The Great Bass Preamp/DI Comparison

Sorry. We're discussing it in the wrong thread, really. It's the Doc Lloyd Photon Death Ray compressor.
Technically yes, but I love the fact there is so much crossover with Preamps and Compressors. They are foundation pieces of gear which go together like peaches and cream.
Most of the gear whores on this thread that obsess about Preamps obsess about compressors also.

Myself included.

I haven't found a compressor I like yet, so it's good to know!

Samesies. Between this thread, the testing compressors thread and the Broughton thread, I never see my family. So . . . what I'm saying is . . . being obsessed with Talkbass has its perks.

I hope you're not including your dogs. I can see ignoring The Fam. Coming to dinner late. Putting off hanky panky the week of a Broughton pedal drop. Secret gear slush funds taken from (air quote) "necessary" medicine for a family members' (air quote) "serious" health problems. Missing a birthday. Selling an organ. Selling your kid's organs.

But ignoring your canine friends?? That's just cold blooded. I mean....C'mon.

Unless it has a toob. Then it's alllllll good.

I'd sell my dog for a P15 . . . if I had a dog.

Hello. My name is LowDown, and.....well, I'm a gear whore that mostly obsesses over preamps and compressors.

Mostly.

GET AN LA-1A! You will never search again!

I'll save you time and trial. LA-1A. Your search will end before it starts.

If only I could decide on a DI/preamp.

now ya tell me! I just got a Doc Lloyd!

a few pages back I reported I got an mxr m81 di+. It didn't work so I got my money back... I'm still preampless....

I don't think I need the xlr/di part... my amps have them and I have a separate box too.
