The PDR really is fantastic. It would be tough to beat without spending significantly more money, I think.

Technically yes, but I love the fact there is so much crossover with Preamps and Compressors. They are foundation pieces of gear which go together like peaches and cream.
Most of the gear whores on this thread that obsess about Preamps obsess about compressors also.

I haven't found a compressor I like yet, so it's good to know!

I do have this cheapo rocktron compressor that soundly beat some more expensive ones I have tried.

I think they are sub $35 on a good day.

I hope you're not including your dogs. I can see ignoring The Fam. Coming to dinner late. Putting off hanky panky the week of a Broughton pedal drop. Secret gear slush funds taken from (air quote) "necessary" medicine for a family members' (air quote) "serious" health problems. Missing a birthday. Selling an organ. Selling your kid's organs.

But ignoring your canine friends?? That's just cold blooded. I mean....C'mon.

Pairing with your LA-1A, I'd recommend you get a preamp with more tone shaping capability (ie eq, IR's, lpf, etc)...

a few pages back I reported I got an mxr m81 di+. It didn't work so I got my money back... I'm still preampless....

I don't think I need the xlr/di part... my amps have them and I have a separate box too.
