The Minnow/Trilobite can be warm. It isn't tubey though with that tube saturation.
Same EQ circuit, yes. Less features. More pedalboard friendly. But the Trilobite has so many more good usable features, I think it is worth sacrificing the space.
So, probably you guys can help me out.
I'm looking for a clean preamp (I got enough dirt on my board) with DI, EQ, phones out, aux-in. Something like a MXR M81 but with phones/aux lol. Any ideas?

There are also amp heads which contain the required features (e.g. Genz Benz Shuttles)
Has anyone tried this? I was thinking of not using it as an amp, but an Orange Tube Preamp. Just use the send line out?

Is the Trilobite preamp and eq the same as in their amp? I played the house rig at a club a while ago, it was a 1K head and two 112 or 115 cabs. I was excited to try out the brand for the first time. Maybe it was the room, but tweaking the eq seemed to make minimal difference in the sound. The tone seemed huge but muted no matter what I did. I could feel the notes, but couldn't quite hear them.
Arkham Oracle is in the house, and I'm loving it. Clean to light saturation. I think this is what I've been looking for.

It's the same as the Arkham Zephyr 1RU preamp but without the transformer/DI

and it does a great clean tone
Sorry, that's not really a review, but I have only played with it at home connected thru RNDI to mixer to some decent headphones. I'll be using it live mid-February and will have more to offer then.

@scubaduba will you be adding a review of The Oxymoron ("Bass Simplifier")? I'm kind of curious...
That's good because it is the kind of device you need to be curious about to use to it's fullest extent.
I experienced a very similar effect when I had the 1k. It was powering an svt 810 cab and some how the volume was there but something was getting lost in the room..maybe lack of punch or 3d effect. I did like the pre section of it though. I sold the 1k and got a quilter bb800 instead which I still have to this day.

Actually it's more of a morbid interest a sort of "with so much complexity that box better sound like The Voice of God"...That's good because it is the kind of device you need to be curious about to use to it's fullest extent.
