How do you know every obscure GAS inducing preamp? Haha!
While we are talking GAS inducing, how about the WR Goliath or Lightstone Tube Bass 2?

Exactly. We are talking about different types of excellent here.
We are truly blessed that we live in a time when good to great gear is abundant out there. I know my bass gear has surely gotten multiple times better over the last 5-6 years.
I’m just glad we live in a time where this is available and I’m able to afford it. Lol
Heads up that there is an Oracle in the classifieds at the moment. Just passing on what I saw.

That is my definition of perfect tone. I have a Cali76 and New Noble preamp coming so I hope to have tone close to that soon. Well done brother.

So . . . not at all what I started out searching for, and was barely ever on my radar, save for the times Scuba was singing the praises of the Trilobite. But I have a Trickfish Minnow on the way. I really like what I'm hearing online. The plan is for it to replace my Southampton Ictineo, and maybe another pedal or two. Sounds really powerful and punchy. Jayme Lewis did a fantastic in-depth video of it. It's over an hour long, and ain't nobody got time for that. Even during quarantine. But if you skip ahead to the pertinent portions of playing (alliteration intended) there are some fantastic demonstrations of the clean, smooth, punchy goodness it's capable of.
Yeah, the Noble is fantastic. But the Grace Alix just takes things to another level of flexibility. Do you have an Alix or Oracle?
I bet you'll love the Trickfish Minnow. I used both the Minnow and Trilobite at NAMM which is where I got hooked on the Trickfish products. I opted for the Trilobite because I wanted the dual channels but the tone circuit is pretty much the same between the two. Punchy is right. A real nice studio tone too but the mids flexibility allows you to radically alter the feel and sound. By the way, the Trickfish Amp and Cab gear is killer. Once when I was in the Trickfish booth, Richard Bona came in and started cranking away through some Trickfish gear. Wow. I also listened to Victor Wooten play through a Bullhead and Trickfish cabs and wow!

Appreciated. I was just curious.That's another good one. For the price and feature set it is awesome. If price isn't an issue and you don't need the XLR out and you don't need much at all in the way of obvious breakup and you don't need cab sims I think the Oracle has the edge for tone.
But all of this is subjective. One man's junk is another man's treasure so YMMV.
The advice you get here might be worth what you pay for it.
I actually do want the XLR feed on any preamp I use. That is one aspect of the SLO that I do like.
My issue has been that putting the preamp on the board doesn’t make much sense to me, since most of them are mainly knobs vs kick switches. So, I ended up going with a self standing Demeter Bass400J with the Jensen.
Been keeping the SLO around, just because it does sound pretty decent. And, I’m reluctant to flip good gear stuff. But, I either would need to upgrade my DC-5 to a DC-7 to accommodate when it might go on the board; or the ALiX does sound pretty much in my zip code. So, mmmmm dunno. Anyhow, thanks for the efforts and info.
I keep following this thread and seem to flip flop back and forth with nearly every post about which preamp / di I would like to try next. Based on form and quality I think I'm leaning toward the SLO.
