What Kind of Music Do You Play?
Mainly classic rock but also metal, funk and original blues.

What Kind Of Venues Do You Play?
Bars, clubs, outdoor festivals, corporate accounts and the odd private party.

Not handy.

As previously noted I have lots of gear I'm 100% happy with. Update: after a torrid affair with the SansAmp VT-RM (VT Bass rack preamp), I've fallen back in love with the combo of Reiner ("JGR") all-tube preamp plus SansAmp RBI preamp.

20140621_211611.jpg

The Reiner is an all-tube preamp designed and built by TalkBasser JGR. It has Gain, Master, plus four bands of EQ. It's flat when flat, and can be run clean, but it's easy to dial in plenty of tube overdrive. I set this preamp for B-15 style tones: phat, with just a bit of tube warmth. I run it into the rear input of the SansAmp RBI. I kick in the RBI when I want highly aggressive modern rock tones. The Presence control on the RBI is especially magical with the tweeterless Berg NV610 cab: I can add gritty ice-pick-to-the-brain high end to the distortion, without the "buzzy bees" harshness you often get from a tweetered cab.

Note: as always, I keep Blend on the RBI set at noon or 1 o'clock max, which minimizes the mid scoop effect of the RBI (but the mid scoop can be a good thing, especially with passive P-basses).

Yes. Totally happy. For a good while now.

Happy with my stuff. How could I not be? No, I don't have a flavor of the month bass cab. But happy, nonetheless. :) I've got other stuff but been having fun with these pieces recently (and not so recently).

What is your Rig?

Trace Elliot AH500X head, Trace 1048 and 1528 cabs

How Long Have You Had It?

3 years

What Do You Love About It?

The absolute power, the way it effortlessly pushes as much low end as I could ever throw at it; the flexibility of the 12 band EQ for tone shaping, it's black, it's green, it's mean.

What Kind Of Bass Do You Play?

Yamaha RBXJM2 John Myung Signature 2

What Kind of Music Do You Play?

Progressive rock, prog metal

What Kind Of Venues Do You Play?

Clubs

Any Audio or Video Clips?

No, we've never played anywhere (yet) so large that I needed both cabs. Got a pic, though, with my Roland PK-5 bass pedals and effects pedal board.

What is your Rig?

GK MB-Fusion and two Eden 210XST cabinets.

How Long Have You Had It?

I've had MB-Fusion about 3 years and the cabinets about 5.
What Do You Love About It?

The GK does clean and dirty equally well, is really loud, and is so small that I have to be careful not to swallow it.

The Edens aren't the lightest 210s, but they are the smallest. I like how petite they are, and they have a nice lower midrange bump in the tone. I can hear them better at lower volumes than some other cabinets I've tried.
What Kind Of Bass Do You Play?

I have a Skjold Design 6-string and a Skjold Design 5-string, along with a Valenti 5-string, and I rotate them more or less equally. The one in the picture is the Skjold 5-string.

I also have an Ergo electric upright.
What Kind of Music Do You Play?

Funk, R&B, occasionally jazz, and occasionally blues.
What Kind Of Venues Do You Play?

90% bar gigs, now and then an outdoor festival or a music hall for a big band gig.
Any Audio or Video Clips?

Invalid Link Removed of the 6-string Skjold.

The Valenti on a cover of "Fly Like an Eagle" and "Impressions" - bass solo at 6:20.

Perfectly happy with my Bergantino rig, IP112ER+AE112.
1000 W of happiness within 60 pounds, always loud enough, best lows I've ever heard.
We've been gigging, practising and whatever together for almost 5 years.
I'm still looking for the perfect preamp though, I alternate between a Zoom B3 and Fishman Platinum.

What Is Your Rig?
Genz Benz Shuttle 9.2 + fEARful 12/6/1
How Long Have You Had It?
Built the cab 2 years ago to pair with a Shuttle 6.2, which I sold about nine months ago after picking up the Shuttle 9.2 in the Genz-Benz fire sale on TB.
What Do You Love About It?
Great tone, plenty of power for my needs, and exceedingly portable. Cab weighs maybe 45 lbs and I can carry all my stuff in one trip, with the head in the GB bag and two basses in my double gig bag w/shoulder straps.
What Kind Of Bass Do You Play?
Mostly EBMM (Stingray 4H, Big Al 4H, fretless Sterling 4H) plus a P bass and a P/J
What Kind Of Music Do You Play?
rock, punk, blues
What Kind Of Venues Do You Play?
Played a few bar gigs over the years but nothing recently, just started working on a new project that will hopefully create some gigging opportunities
Any Audio or Video Clips?
Thankfully, no. :)

It took a while, but I'm finally settled on this and don't want or need anything else: Gallien Krueger 800RB head, Mesa Boogie Diesel 2x15 cab, Squier Affinity P/J bass with Dimarzio Model P and J pickups, Tech 21 VT Bass, Proco Vintage Rat, Electro Harmonix green Russian tall font Big Muff. Not pictured: Epiphone Elitist Thunderbird, which I break out from time to time.
