The 'I am 100% Happy With My Rig Thread!

Preface:
I have a ton of other gear, and, I reguarly try other stuff, partly cause it's fun, and partly cause I'm alwasy looking for "that last little miracle.

Overall though, I'm very happy with:
Either GK MBFusion, or, 1001RBII
and
2x GK Neo 112

What is your Rig? see right there^^^
How Long Have You Had It? 2+years
What Do You Love About It? Crisp, clear punchy do it all
What Kind Of Bass Do You Play? Mostly Sadowsky MV5JJ
What Kind of Music Do You Play? Whatever comes with a paycheck ;)
What Kind Of Venues Do You Play? Where ever ever the paycheck is
Any Audio or Video Clips? Sorry....

The MBFusion is just soo dang easy to move, and a little cleaner/crisper than the 1001.
The 1001 has it's own little bit of mojo, and the biamp feature rocks...but it's bigger.

What is your Rig?

Well, I have seven amps and six cabs, but for the sake of this thread, let's say my rig is a GK MB800 on a Bergantino AE212.

How Long Have You Had It?

About a year, I guess.

What Do You Love About It?

Clean, versatile sound, rich in mids but plenty of bottom.

What Kind Of Bass Do You Play?

For now, let's say Sadowsky UV70 with Pope Flex Core Preamp and LeCompte VB5. Plus a dozen or so others, but mostly those right now.

What Kind of Music Do You Play?

Classic Rock in one band (5 pieces) and Easy Listening/Pop in my acoustic trio.

What Kind Of Venues Do You Play?

Private parties, corporate, bars, coffee houses, benefits.

Any Audio or Video Clips?

Here's one with the LeCompte. Recorded in the garage on Presonus Studiolive 16.4.2, one take, no overdubs. This is direct, not through the rig.

What Kind of Music Do You Play?
Fusion, Jazz, Pop, Country/Folk, Blues, Bluegrass

What Kind Of Venues Do You Play?
Club gigs, festivals, private events... though when I play big multi-act festivals I rarely use a rig... I go straight in to the house thru the Aguilar Tone Hammer and a Radial J48 or Countryman Type 85 and use the monitors and FOH.

Any Audio or Video Clips?
Not many with my rig... most of what is on YouTube is direct via the board or FOH setup. I depend on my rig, but it's my basses and some of my preamps, etc. that really define my sound. I find I can get what I need out of most any rig as long as it's not too far removed from what I'm used to. If I have any variation of SWR/Eden or even Genz-Benz at my disposal I can get by.

Me First!

What is your Rig?
Genz Benz Shuttlemax 6.0 + Genz Benz NeoX 212T

How Long Have You Had It?
3 years

What Do You Love About It?
First and foremost, the tone. It is a very 'flat' voiced head that allows each bass's tone to shine thru without lots of coloration.
I love the weight (5lbs) of the GB Shuttlemax, and the fact that I have a tube pre-amp channel and a Purely solid State channel that allows me to dial 2 different tones, or blend the channels together. I love the 'tuner out' feature which allows me to plug a tiny patch cable into the amp and rest the tuner pedal on top of the amp. No long cables or floor clutter.

The NeoX 212T Just sounds killer with this head. I love the weight and portability. I love the tightness of the 12 inch speakers and there ability to fill out the bottom. This cab has incredible dispersion and sounds amazing when you play rooms without PA support. Lastly, i love that the tweeter is adjustable.

What Kind Of Bass Do You Play?
90% of the time, a Fender Custom Classic Custom Shop Jazz Bass with a J-Retro Pre.
8% of the time a 73' Fender Jazz with Flats
2% A Musicman MIA Sterling
*They all sound killer thru this rig!

What Kind of Music Do You Play?
Mostly Old School Funk, Soul, Disco, Jazz, Blues...not much rock these days.

What Kind Of Venues Do You Play?
Everything from small spots with no PA support for bass to large Casino Showrooms and Outdoor Festivals.

Keep em' coming and get your rig counted!

Your Turn!!!

If it wasn't for TB I may have quit and sold the lot. Instead I play all kinds of gigs, mostly with my original Trace rig plus extension cab. I still gas.

Original owner 1994 250w Trace SMX with RedDragon pedal giving it a kick, into cabs of the day.

Pub rock, fusion jazz, big band jazz, EUB, P/J, Ubass, doesn't matter, 12 band eq, 500 honest peak watts, compression, faux valves in the RedDragon, I am invincible.

But still there is gas.

After the amount of time that it took me to finally dial it in, I can hardly believe that I am able to post in this thread. The taste of success is nearly overwhelming!

What is your Rig?

Basses: Fender 1975 Precision Bass, Fender 1972 Jazz Bass, Fender 2013 Cabronita precision bass, Fender 2013 Road worn Jazz bass refinished in sonic blue, Gibson SG bass

Amps: Ampeg 1972 SVT, Genz Benz Shuttle 6.2

Cab: Barefaced 69er, Genz Benz 12" shuttle cab

Effects: AnalogMan Mini-BiComp (running on Orange Squeezer setting) -> Octave (Boss OC-2 or BYOC Octave divider) -> Darkglass VMT -> Envelope filter (Moog MF-101 or a Mutron III) -> Phase 90 script reissue -> EHX Memory Boy (soon to be replaced by a mini-Moog delay) -> Moog Mini-Ring mod

How Long Have You Had It?

The last piece (the Barefaced 69er) was added in February. Some pieces (the Fender 1975 Precision) I have had for over 10 years.

What Do You Love About It?

Finally I have the tone I want in a package that I can carry without too much issue. The Darkglass gets the Benz Genz surprisingly close so when I can't bring the SVT, I still have a solid option. My tone is tight, deep, not flabby, expressive, clear and hits you in the ass! The Barefaced 69er is the most impressive cab that I have ever heard. Quite amazing and very light.

What Kind Of Bass Do You Play?

See above.

What Kind of Music Do You Play?

Rock, jazz, soul & r&b, blues

What Kind Of Venues Do You Play?

Mainly bars (large and small) and a good number of outdoor gigs here in the mountains. My current group did 3-4 nights a week here in Chamonix, France. Forming a new group to do soul/r&b (Bill Withers, Stevie Wonder, Sly etc) over the summer.

What is your Rig?

I use rack rigs. I have a bunch of preamps that I like, but my favorites are a Reiner Amplification all-tube preamp, and also a pair of SansAmp preamps run in parallel (RBI, RPM, VTRM -- pick two). My favorite cab ever is my Bergantino NV610, but I also like my pair of Bergantino HS210 cabs.

How Long Have You Had It?

I've been using an NV610 for about a decade. The SansAmp VTRM came out last year, I've had the Reiner for 3 years, my other preamps for longer.

What Do You Love About It?

I get very close to the vintage SVT tone (plus a bunch of other excellent tones), but with MUCH less bulk and weight. Also, unlike the classic SVT, I can dial in the same amount of overdrive (or no overdrive) at any volume.

What Kind Of Bass Do You Play?

5 string fretteds, mostly P-style. My favorite is the Sadowsky P5 in my avatar

What Kind of Music Do You Play?

My modern/classic hard rock band is the busiest, but I also play Stax/Motown R&B, blues, pop, country, funk, punk, alternative... and at wedding gigs I hack my way badly through jazz standards.

What Kind Of Venues Do You Play?

Mostly bar gigs, but sometimes corporate/wedding gigs or outdoor festivals.

What is your Rig? GK MB500 head w/ 2 x GK Neo-112 II cab

How Long Have You Had It? Approx. 2 years, but I’ve been using GK heads on and off for the past 15 years, since I was 16. I have had various brands over the years, but always find myself returning to GK, the sound that I grew up with.

What Do You Love About It? The sound that I am familiar with, minimum EQing is needed on the stage, never had issues cutting through the mix.

What Kind Of Bass Do You Play? Sadowsky MV5, Carvin Icon 5 Fretless

What Kind of Music Do You Play? Funk, Reggae, Rock, Afro Beat, Folk, Jam band.

What Kind Of Venues Do You Play? 100 to 300 capacity club, small summer festival circuit, anywhere really.........

Any Audio or Video Clips? Badly recorded with a cell phone with overpowering guitar.

I don't suffer from gear lust.
I do quite like Carlsbro kit
Nearly 20 years ago I bought a 2 x 10" combo, and still have it and love it. I've bought a 4 x 10" cab and head and use it when I need more volume, but to be honest, if the PA people offer me a DI and a decent floor wedge, I'll use that quite happily.
Beach Boys tribute - so no effects, just the Jazz bass.
We play any size venue - as long as they can afford us - so 3000 seat arenas as top end, and 200 seat clubs at the other.
