Here is my de-fretted SR-405, I made a veneer for the headstock to match the body. I also upgraded the pre-amp with a Bartolini NTBT 918, it's a two band eq and I installed a "dummy" pot to fill the hole.

I just found out the 08 Ibanez curved top pickups are actually P-bass pickups in a dual coil shell!
LAME! LAME! LAME!
If you own one of these newer models, check it out by tapping on them with a small allen wrench while the volume is up.
I personally love my new SR-305 but, am going to be going with bart replacements as soon as I can afford them.
its too bad really, I mostly bought the bass because I was excited about the so called "NEW" curved humbuckers.
however, if you love that P-bass tone, you are in luck cuz these basses nail it when only the neck pickup is up.

I'm assuming from your description you didn't PLAY the bass PRIOR to buying yes? hence your surprise....

It may not be commonly known, but MANY many bass companies use "soapbar" cases for what are essentuially P pickups. What is common is the assumption that a soapbar shaped case means humbucker :) The truth is always in what you HEAR of course.....

Ironically enough, I'm sure there are players who enevr bothered to try certain bases with soapbar-shaped pickups because they were thinking they couldn't get a P-Bass tone....
