At first glance it seems to be a BTB700OL.
"Sound of wood" for the neck PU, right? ;)

Years ago I had a BTB705OL and sold it - now I can't find another one in Europe :bawl:

Hey, I was going to start a new post, but I figure this is the place to look first. I love the Ibanez BTB six-string, especially since its so close to what I already have, which is a custom job (Moll Instruments, who no longer makes basses). As much as I love this bass, it weighs 13 lbs :/ Yeah, I know.

So I tried the BTB six, and its heavy as well, and all the reviews I've read agree that its very noticeably heavy. My question is: Can someone who owns a BTB six-string please tell me exactly how much it weighs? I can't find the specs anywhere online. I guess I'm trying to justify getting another very heavy bass, but even if I can shave off, say, 3 lbs, then I would think that was worth it, to have something very close to what I'm used to but significantly lighter.

Anyone who would be willing to stand on a scale with their BTB six, I'd greatly appreciate it.

so the word today was the first week of august for my btb776 i ordered it in march and was told the end of april the end of april came then it was the end of march now june has come and its the first week of august not sure what i should do from here anyone have any suggestions ??????????? not sure i can trust what i've been told this time

It's not that I can't figure out the controls. I run sound twice a week. LOTS more knobs on that than on those basses.

But the more knobs I have to tweek...the more I'm going to tweek them.

When it comes to on-board controls, I like to just set and forget. I've posted numerous times in these forums about my dislike of on-board EQ controls on bass.

I guess when you said "simpler" you gave me the impression that you found something complicated about the Ibanez preamp...

They are simple. Volume, Pickup balance, Bass/Mid/Treb and the switches are a bass boost/cut and passive/active. I only boost the bass if i want that Warwick "growl," and the 1405 will do it too! I have a warwick thumb 5 also so i can directly compare the two :D You should play a 1405 man, it is the best bass that I've ever played. I've been playing for 13 years and have played lots of boutique basses and this sounds just as amazing with 1/3 of the price tag :) Here's some pics if you guys are interested

Hey guys, can i get a number. I have a heavily modded 1979 Musician that i have just finished restoring. It has had the headstock modded, retrofitted with EMG active pups and refinished in metallic purple. Some people dont like it but i love it. The tonal range is amazing and the neck feels so good. Here are some pics:

Is she light weight as well?

I saw you got a few responses about identifying the SR you posted on the Ibanez Forum. The last response sounds plausible but does not account for the 5pc laminated neck. Can you tell if the body caps are mahogany or padauk?

The caps appear to be padauk I keep comparing it to my SR1305 and SR1306 and the padauk on the top an back of them is much redder. The unknown SR 4 string has a very brown almost mahogany or a browned bubinga color but is a very pitted grain like my 1306. I've looked through all the catalogs for all countries from 1990-1997 and can't find anything. I think i'll just wait to break a string and check the neck pocket, model name should be there. I put on the ibanez forums too so hopefully someone can find something.

Do you have any sound clips?

I am awaiting a local store that will be receiving a 1205...but like the idea of the maple top better. It's my experience that the combo of mahogany and maple give great growl and clarity/brightness.
