Those SR500s (and SR300s) would look so much better with plain maple headstocks. I especially like the White SR300M.

The new SR370M looks pretty good too in that sunburst. But again, would look nicer with plain headstock.

I couldn't disagree more. I think my humble SR300 is stone cold sexy in roadster orange--headstock and all.
I didn't mean the rosewood board ones - those look fine (I actually had the roadster orange one at some point, loved the look).
It's the maple ones that don't look right painted. I just think maple looks sexier nude

Thanks...yeah i need to take some better pics and get them up.
I also have a red sparkle ATK 300, and on both ( ^750 & 300) the headstocks match the body. Looks fine to me.
edit: now that I think about it, my Ibanez SXR590 has a matching headstock too. It has a rosewood board though, and yes I still like maple better.
Here's my 1991 SR800. The pickups stopped working after a year and got replaced with EMGs (the kind that you had to solder to install). I liked the sound of the original pups but the EMGs made it even better. The original knobs didn't fit the new pots so I replaced them with what you see now. Has dings and scratches that don't show in the pics. This is my first bass and I'll never get rid of it. Can I have a number please?

That might be the best looking Ibby I have ever seen. I still think that black is the best bass color, and blacked (murdered) out is the one notch above anything else going.
Just got an SRT800DX last week in transparent grey. Like new, not a mark on it, $585 out the door with case. Build quality, playablity, and tone are all outstanding. I can get damn near any sound out of this thing that I want. Very impressed with this bass.

It plays beautifully and is as light as a feather (good thing considering the state of my back at the moment)
I gigged it last night and was really impressed by the balance as well. No neck dive whatsoever.
