Those basses are actually the predecessors to the EDA series, I think they were called AFR's or something. I agree about the paint though, I think that shape looks a bit too "Back To The Future" with all the luthite and chrome...
Do you guys know how many years Ibanez made the AFR's? Too bad they discontinued them...

I sold her not long ago and now I have a chance to buy her back for 200-220Euros.
What can you say me about this bass?

Any big difference between the SR900 and SR1000 4 strings other than the location of build and preamps?

She looks nice, it's a shame about the truss rod, I have a burst 82 just like it and although the truss rod works fine that bass has a very temperamental neck. I got it for $218.00 9 years ago and has served me well as my beater P. They still sell in the US for around-about what I paid or a little less most of the time.
Last user damaged it, probably by putting a piece of plastic between neck and body or adjusting without loosening the strings.
The truss works, but only from 1 to 5-6 fret, and from 6 to 21 the neck is getting "wavy". Pretty bad look
I remember that this bass has a quite high action and she's hard to play ( I had to press strings really hard to get the sound ) - is it because of broken truss or it's a normal condition?
And can you explain me what is a "temperamental" neck? Does it men that often needs adjusting?

I can't say without having it in front of me to be %100 but that doesn't sound that good to me. How much can the truss rod nut be tightened, when you tightened it did you crank it all the way and still had to much relief for it to be playable? Also, you are right, badly place shims can mess up a neck and warp it, usually the only fix if it's bad is to have the neck re-fretted or atleast partially re-fretted by someone that reallllly knows what they are doing.Last user damaged it, probably by putting a piece of plastic between neck and body or adjusting without loosening the strings.

No worries on the english, your doing fine. What I mean by "temperamental" is seasonal changes in weather effect it more than my other basses: when it's dry the neck back bows a bit, when it's wet [I live in a pretty wet place] it up-bows, it only takes a minute to adjust and it's fine, I just have to do this every six months or so or if it gets really cold. The bass has gotten better since I've owned it though, the previous own really let it go.And can you explain me what is a "temperamental" neck? Does it men that often needs adjusting?

No, it's not totally broken. It works, but when I'm trying to adjust, only one part of neck is "moving" up and down ( more or less from 1st to 5th fret ) and some parts of rest of the neck is getting... lopsided ( I dont know how to say that in english ) ... like turning WITH the truss rod ...
Bass was always playable, but not very comfortable.
I thought that the truss rod has to be replaced? That will cost in Poland +\- 60-65 euros.
I was never able to adjust this guitar fine, and some day I got really mad and sent it to the luthier, they made some decend guitars for one of the best jazz-guitar player in Poland, so I thought they'll be able to set-up my bass. They said that truss is cranked, and they did the best they can - Yup, it's now unplayable. They put some litle wooden blocks between neck and body ( they said that will level neck as it should be ), but that didn't do any good :/
I got really mad and sold that bass , bought another one ( quite nice custom GMR from Poland, I posted some photos, but in the first part of "big unlimited show your basses" so I don't think anybody can see them now
. Now I have a great chance to buy this Blazer back, but I dont know is it worth that money. I'll take her back home, throw this f*** blocks away and again try to adjust neck. If it will do any good I think I'll buy it. That's the story But is it a bass worth that money and work? For me it's a nice vintage Ibanez, but I heard from some people, that this is not good bass, and If I'll buy a korean or taiwan made squier and change pickups I'll get the same or quality :/
From what you say it sounds like the neck is warped, I don't know if a new truss would help or not.
What I was referring to about the shims is a whole other problem that has to do with bad shim placement warping the fret board end, if the shims are to high and in the wrong place the tension of tightening the neck bolts can warp the end of the neck.
As long as you can try this before you spend anymore money on it sure, why not....... But if you buy it and have to have major surgery done to the neck or have the neck replaced [Keep in mind Blazer necks and fender replacements are not interchangeable so if you cant find a match or a neck with the same amount of frets that dont over hang off the end of the neck you might have to move the bridge a bit to get a fender type neck to fit] If you can't get it to play the way you want/need it to then what?I was never able to adjust this guitar fine, and some day I got really mad and sent it to the luthier, they made some decend guitars for one of the best jazz-guitar player in Poland, so I thought they'll be able to set-up my bass. If the basses neck was in good working order: no warping, no truss rod problems ect I would buy a early 80s Ibanez over a new MIM fender and even some MIA fenders any day, but that's just me.
Its your call in the end if you think its worth it.
I checked in dictionary - yup, this is what they said. "The truss rod is warped" they said. They recified the neck, but the truss rod is still warped - that's what they said.

You have convinced me. If I will be able to made this bass just playable I will buy it. I think the "surgery" can be done later, to make my Blazer like a brand new
