Ok talkbassers, tell me what's the deal with power supplies for these. I've got a triple-black v5 dizzy incoming; can I use standard tip-negative or what? Thank you!
From what I remember, yes you can use a standard 9v centre - negative power supply but I seem to remember that I couldn't also daisy chain the power supply, so I assume it's got some sort of inverter inside the pedal

This arrived in the mail today. I knew it was gonna stupidly big pedal. But I wasn't quite prepared for just how stupidly big it really is. It sounds pretty good. I haven't had a chance to really let it rip, as my kids are asleep. Maybe tomorrow.
It's a stupidly big enclosure tho.
Absolutely insane! actual selling price hasn't been much lower.
I wish I bought one two years ago when they were plentiful!
I have purchased all my Jext Telez pedals new, 3 DizzyTones, a Uni-Drive, Buzz Tone, Black Drone Wasp, and Two Jext Faces. In each case I took advantage of some small discount, and always felt like I got more than my monies worth. I've always been interested in the White Pedal, but never $299 worth of interest, and certainly not $400-500 worth either. Today I took delivery of a Heavy Pedals White pedal clone. Very cool, inspiring device. Even if it's not a precise sonic match to the original, it has that instantly recognizable Revolution White Album searing fuzz tone. Highly recommended.
I had the white pedal for a bit, I actually only used it on bass and it was.....fine. Worked okay as a bass pedal I seem to recall ie didn't shelve all the low end but, at least to me, didn't do anything particularly special.
I love the fact that someone made an overdrive/Preamp based off an old, discontinued amp and I've not seen a single Jext Telez pedal I would class as cheap in any sense of the word, it just did absolutely nothing for me.

So, the Jext Face is one of those circuits that doesn't play well with a buffered input. It's designed to sound best with a passive pickup feeding it. My first Jext Face was the Blue normal gain version. You can see my rehousing effort earlier in this thread. Whenever it's on my board, I always use a passive pickup emulator in front to avoid the overblown, super noisy result that my buffered signal chain induces.
When I saw a Red high gain version from CME at an attractive price recently, I splurged. I now own three passive pickup emulators, so I decided to rehouse my new Jext Face to include the PPE, an all in one solution. After a few soldering mishaps, I managed to finally stop breaking stuff, and I'm in classic Fuzz Face heaven.
The PPE has an on/off toggle, and a tone control. Good times.
When I saw a Red high gain version from CME at an attractive price recently, I splurged. I now own three passive pickup emulators, so I decided to rehouse my new Jext Face to include the PPE, an all in one solution. After a few soldering mishaps, I managed to finally stop breaking stuff, and I'm in classic Fuzz Face heaven.

After getting frustrated with some intermittent noises, I decided to tear down and redo my big home board. Realized I'd never done a detailed A/B comparison, or stacking trial with my Jext Telez pack. Just finished ringing it out, no issues, time to improv score the Chiefs game.
Jext Face Hi gain (rehoused with a passive pickup emulator) > Uni-Drive > Buzz Tone > DizzyTone V5 (rehoused) > Jext Face normal gain (rehoused) > CT5 > DizzyTone V1 pedalboard friendly > 1971 Big Muff Pi > Black Drone Wasp > Resonant Filter EQ > Bubbletron > HXFX > Rusty Box > Apex Compressor.
First thoughts, DizzyTone is still my favorite. Set clean, Rusty Box is awesome. Love the clean clank. LPF is dirts second best friend, resonant LPF is dirts BFF. Uni-Drive works really well at the beginning of a stack.

The fellas at Analog Anonymous have listed some new White Pedal V2s on Reverb. Not inexpensive but infinitely superior to the jacked up used prices. And it's NEW! And V2 is the "bassier" version.

i sold mine a few years ago for what they originally went for, but before i did, i cloned it for myself and another one for my guitarist (in a smaller enclosure-125B) with the funds. i was able to duplicate it's circuit and tone exactly. i suppose that i should have held on to the original so i could sell it for what they're asking for it now.

I've had some intimate time with my new White Pedal V2, and what I've learned makes me smile. The inherent core sound is notably different from the vast array of dirt pedals in my collection (except for my V1 clone). It begs me to play power chords. It stacks quite nicely with, so far, a Uni-Drive before, or a Sentinel after. It proves that my V1 clone is right on target. In many settings they are practically identical. The differences being exactly what Jext Telez reported. A little more obvious with the mid control, a little less bright with the treble past noon, and a little more oomph and gain when goosed. The White pedal still offers lots of character at lower gain as well.
The second coming is more expensive than the first time around, but I'm happy to give my money to them, over a speculative flipper.
I probably won't be back to jamming til November or December, but I look forward to seeing how it goes in a group setting.
