I just bought dooft11's BSR5EG , and I have a question.
What's the difference between BSR5EG and BlackTiger Elite?
I've checked smith's website ,but couldn't figure it out this.
It looks very similar ,but have different name. Can anybody tell me about this? please?

The difference is the Black Tiger Elite has specific woods - figured black walnut top and back, and tiger maple core. The BSR5EG is at the same level as the Black Tiger Elite, but it is a general model so you have tons of wood choices with those. You can get a BSR5EG with the exact specs as the Black Tiger Elite. ( For example, I used to have a BSR5GN with the exact specs as a normal Black Tiger.)

I believe the story behind this is that when he initially offered the Black Tiger model, the figured black walnut was so rare that it was only available on those limited basses. But now he has more of it available, so he's still making new BlackTigers and also offering that wood as an option on the normal BSR models.

Well, it might be a BT6G, but that ain't Zebrawood, for sure!

All these tasty Smiths make me wish I still owned a couple of mine. I've owned 4, but only truly miss my CR5CG with Pupleheart top and back and Walnut core. Sorry I ever sold that one.

Whatsup fellow Ken Smith Club members! I've had my 6EG for around 2 months now, and I wanted to comment on how easy to play it is. I've been a five string player since I started playing bass, but I've tried (unsuccesfully) to move to the six many times before. I had a 6 string Tobias, a Yamaha JP sig, a 6 string Warwick, etc. Whenever I bought a six before I kept it for 2 to 3 weeks max and then moved on because it just wasn't comfortable - until now. I had a couple Ken Smith five's and really loved how comfortable the neck was and how easy they were to play, so I figured that a Smith might be a six string that I could work with. I of course already knew that I would love the tone. Well it took me only around a week and a half to get comfortable on my Smith six. It's been 2 months now and I absolutely love it. The high C string feels completely natural to me now.

I had a studio session this week that mine smoked on - everyone in the room was blown away by the tone.

I still have both of mine, a BRS5J-MW and a BSR5EG Elite wide spacing. I love 'em, but I haven't been playing them much. My Alleva-Coppolo KBP5 has been getting most of my play time recently.

No comparison in what way ?
You may want to take that up with Ken ,he told me the Burner pup's were louder. The bolt on that i tried ,my Burner smoked it IMO tone wise.

I can't say enough about my Black Tiger 5-BEST BASS THAT I HAVE EVER OWNED OR PLAYED!!!! The tone and playability are very addicting. Talking about cutting through the mix........ Last Sunday in church, some of the members of our choir told me in between services that my bass was sounding so good, that they could hardly concentrate on singing! When I asked was I too loud, their answer was an emphatic NO!

Vision, what are you stringing your bass with?

I've been sticking with Ken Smith Rock Masters. I also like MTD stainless steels, and I've tried DR hi-beams but didn't care for them. The Smith strings have the most balance as far as being bright up top while still having plenty of warmth in the low mids.
