The 6er sounds amazing, but I feel more at home playing 5ers...... I'm gonna put it up for trade, but only for another Elite 5er!

I may have the plainest looking Ken Smith of all, but it sounds and plays just like one should. It is a 1996 CR-4 MA that I bought used in 1999. This has been my main bass in several bands. I have it strung with TI rounds.
It is the only Ken Smith I have ever seen used in a guitar shop- glad I grabbed it when I did.

Yes! I always drooled after them since I was much younger (remember Patitucci and his signature 6?); so, three years ago, when I found the possibility to swap my not much used Corvette 4 for a '91 Burner V I did not hesitate one second! Love that bass.
The new shape and new headstock ones are obviously more ergonomic and "fashion", trendier and I would love to own one. But there still is something special about an old one: that's the real deal for me; my heart goes "boom" whenever I see one! That must be more or less the same love-reason why Hadrien Feraud preferred the old (body only) shape for his recent signature

I just recorded a bass track for a song I'm working on. One take was done with my Ken Smith, the other with my Sadowsky M524. I think I'm going with the Smith version!

What kind of top is that? Very nice!
The wood for the top? Some "spalted wood"; found info here below; don't know any better...

I think the old body style is better for seated playing. Played both and can conform this.
