Hey nuwaveedc,
That's the one! I saw your ad but didn't have the money back then. The next time it showed up I jumped on it.
It's an incredible bass. It is also my first 6'er ever and as luck would have it, the best sounding bass I've ever owned. I definitely see why you picked this specific one.

Very cool, glad to hear it has a good home. I have a bsr4gn which I really enjoy now, and it has the bell like quality of your sixer, but nearly not as pronounced. There was always something special about that one, and if was a four or five I wouldnt have sold it. The six was too hard on my body having small hands.

As a side note:
It's funny if you listen to early pattitucci recordings you can hear how good his smith bass sounds and then he switches to Yamaha in later recordings and IMO he loses a lot of that sweetness and warmth. He must have made the switch for business reasons or ergonomics or something.

took these pics to sale the bass but having a hard time parting with it:

check out the 5A maple core too!

I know, everything about them just says it would be perfect for me; narrow string spacing, body shape, neck shape! I even sold my Roscoe Beck V to free up some cash, and that's widely recognised as the best Fender 5 string EVER.

I just need to find one now... :)

i have a smith BSR5EG for sale if you are interested. cocobolo top, 5A tiger maple core, 7 piece neck and 7 piece body...see ost 646 above. PM me if interested. thx.

That is absolutely stunning, but I suspect that the string spacing is wider than what I'm looking for. And I also suspect (quite understandably) that it is well outside of the price range of what I alloted for a Burner... ;)

Another killer Smith!!! Awesome! Welcome to the Club. I was a die hard Smith string user-until I tried Sadowsky Blue Label stainless steels. They sound great, feel great and last a whole lot longer! I am a Sadowsky string user from now on!

A Groove is a Terrible Thing to Waste!
