My next smith will be fretless if I can ever find a used 5 or 6 string.

It is like new. This bass is different from the other smiths Ive owned. It's lighter, must be a lighter walnut core. It sounds different too.

I was taking lessons from Ken when he started making basses. I remember playing his prototype many times. They are awesome pieces.

If you wanna hear someone get down with a Ken Smith, you should check out Amanda Ruzza. We have a friend in common and I've met her. She can really bring it on the bass.

Indeed I will. The b string on this is fat. Much better then my previous smiths. Did ken change something? I bought / traded it with the intention of going tenor with it. I've rethought that completely.

I never heard a Smith so sweet as that one. I think the two woods combination are just perfect.
