**The LaBella 760FL Deep-Talkin' Flats LOVE Thread**

I just installed a new set of 760FL flats on my only p bass in my avatar and love their tone and feel . I have had them on another Bass I no longer own and they are my favorite flats on any p bass . My Warwick Corvette covers the roundwound tone with Roto Swingbass 66 .

I recently obtained a '74 Precision that seems to have spent most of its life in its case! Three of the strings were the original Fender flatwounds that were installed at the factory (!!!) and the E seems to be a heavy-gauge La Bella 760 that's been on there for a long time.

I installed a used set of roundwound strings temporarily until the right set for this bass arrived:

This new 760FL set seems different than the older sets, and in a good way. They sound and feel the same, but the outer surface is even smoother, with the actual windings barely visible. The color of the red silk is also deeper. Maybe @LaBellaStrings can confirm if some changes were made.

I can confirm that the newer silks are a deeper red than those I have from 5 years ago; less red-orange. I’ll need to look closer at the windings. Nothing jumped out at me.

I wonder how consistent the color really is. No way to know what year they were made I don’t think and who knows how long they were in stock?

Good point. I can’t even be sure they haven’t faded on the bass.

Just ordered a set for my 5 string Warwick. I am really excited to see how it sounds wearing Labellas, it will be my first try with these strings. In the past I’ve used EB Cobalt flats on a stingray and Chromes on a pbass. Liked them both.

Hope you like them! Just be careful not to judge them right out of the pack. They thicken up quickly with some playing time.

Do these happen to have a tapered B string? That would probably work better with my Warwick bridge, the saddle is super narrow on the B string and the factory strings have a tapered B. I could file it, but hope I don’t have to.

Yes, the DTF 128B is tapered at the ball end.

I thought this thread was specifically about the 760FL... Those ones with black silk are 760FS, aren't they?

Ok, got my Labellas today and put them on my Warwick... I am happy to report that these are absolutely my favorite strings ever. I am loving this thump and the very beautiful tones I’m getting now. I played for 2 hours because I couldn’t put it down. Thanks for all the recommendations, I’ll report back in a month or two once they’ve broken in even more.

Has anybody found a complimenting set of rounds that goes well with the 760FLs? I'm just asking because I have 4 basses with the 760FL set - I think I need a set of rounds and I don't want to go back to the D'addario Light Balanced Tension set necessarily.

What??? Someone looking for rounds on a flats thread? Just kidding...Maybe someone can help you but, flats do it for me on all my basses . My fingers love flats too!
