Hey Jauqo- as a DJ owner, I can say that I bought it because I played one in a store and loved it, partly because of the ergonomics of it, and partly because I loved the passive tone of it. Looking back on the 3 years I've had one, I've swapped the pickups a handful of times, so maybe the tone wasn't quite perfect for me, but all in all, its a killer jazz for the money. The neck shape is not for everyone though.

The fact that it had Darryl's name on it had no bearing whatsoever on its appeal to me.

I've purchased a couple based on the Aesthetics. I love the blocks, binding, matching headstock and colors. I think it's also fortunate for us that it is available with those options as a skyline. I like Darryl & his playing, but if it was called Turd Ferguson Signature model, I would have just as likely bought it.

For the tone and killer looks man!

I personally hate the idea of "signature" instruments. There are plenty of bassists I respect and admire, but buying a bass because a famous guy plays one smells like the whole American Idol celebrity worship tabloid BS...none for me thanks.

I have a Tony Franklin fretted P on the way and the first order of business will be to replace the neckplate with his sig on it.

No dissin' Tony, just don't want HIS name on MY bass! :)

I love blocks......and the finish was fantastic (the pearly white and slight metal flake black are super great colors that NEVER look as good in pictures as they do in person)....the fact that DJ played it was a nice addition but not a "reason"....

I would like to see Lakland keep the "option" alive - either with or without the smaller body.....

As an owner of both a DJ5 (sold) and a JO5 I can tell you that they DO sound different.

I would buy another one for sure in the future!!!!

I bought the one I had because of the smaller jazz body and the looks. Didn't care for the neck feel or the sound though. I think most people don't buy a bass because someone else plays it, unless they're a kid just starting out and they want to play the bass their "hero" plays.
