The Lakland DJ sig

..I bought it because I played one in a store and loved it, partly because of the ergonomics of it, and partly because I loved the passive tone of it.

Same here. Played it in a store and was hooked.

To be honest, the fact that the signature was on the headstock was a negative for me, not a positive.

Likewise for me...I feel kinda lame for having someone's sig on any of my instruments or pieces of gear.

It was the design for me. I had one of the Darryl Jones inspired 'A' Basses made by Albey Balgochian many years back and loved the body style, (which, I'm sure many of you know, is where the current DJ bass stems from) overall look and feel.

That's the ONLY J-style bass I've ever had serious GAS pains for.

I am certainly not disputing that fact...the reason I got the Lakland was because of the early style of the bass. I appreciate all of the nuances that Lakland added.

I think it's a killer design and always have. I just wanted to make it known that before it became an official Lakland sig that some changes were indeed added from Laklands own perspective..

I hate to break it to some of you, but there's a strong possibility that Lakland will not be making any new sig basses for a long while if ever again.

Seriously, they gotta keep the line going. Offer finishes other than the sparklage. The finish is the only thing that kept me from buying or trading for one.

I like the contest idea. I know they have a little tradition with doing the sig models in the J and P line, but don't have to be that way.

Those are staying (sig models as well)but don't expect any new sig models (for a long while, if ever).


The DJ sig is possibly the only one that is leaving.
