The Rod Bagojevich sig model.... not powerful enough

The Barack Obama Sig..... not strong enough

The Richard J. Daily Sig model...... yeah thats it. ;)

Interesting concept. Presumably, DJ participated in the design so, even for the large majority of people who voted design, they actually did buy it because of DJ.

I respect lakland for giving "signature" models to artist that truly deserve a signature and not some flash in the pan player that is going to sell basses.

I would love to have a Lakland JO4 or JO5. I've never cared much for the DJ...I don't like blocks and I like the larger body better.

I liked the look of it but had never heard of darryl Jones, other than he played with the Stones.

As i got a DJ5 and he doesn't play one (nore a Skyline DJ4) it didn't really matter to me who he was.

Ive now come to appreciate his playing though but that still wouldn't have influenced my decision.

Block inlays were the draw, certainly over the JO5 but the Lakland neck was the biggy.

It is just that Fender and Ibanez market to the younger crowd, while Lakland tends to market to the over-the-hill crowd (I don't think I have seen someone under thirty willingly consider buying a Lakland Bass besides myself). It is what I would do if I owned an instrument corporation. Pandering to the older guys tends to get very depressing after a while.

I am familiar with the work of all of the Ibanez and Fender signature endorsers... and I do tend to respect them more than most old session players Lakland goes after, I'm sorry to say.

But yes, Fender and Ibanez are evil, evil people for actually making signature Basses people want, blah, blah, blah...
