Anyone know how much Mike would charge to put a new finish on my Lull M5V? I have two Lull basses that look the same, except for pickguard color. So I'm thinking of having the body of one of them refinished in a different color.

MIke doesn't finish basses in-house. Pat Wilkins did my green bass that I ordered from Lull. YOu could contact him or any of the other high end finishers.
Are there any guys out there enjoying the ultra vintage basses? It seems there is a lack of info in this forum on these which seems odd???
Hmm. Seems to be really similar to the V series.

I am chalking it up to this being a sign that the bass is meant to stay completely original. A pick guard isn't something I'm gonna get my panties in a bunch about, but I just hope that I will get a better response if it's something important.
I believe Mike's pickguards are made by pickguardian. They carry every possible replacement pick guard for Lull basses.

I'm usually a big fan of vintage radius necks and I went to Mike's shop as soon as he had a UVP4 in stock and compared it to my fave P4. I don't know why but I liked the feel of Mike's normal 12" radius neck much better than the UVP neck. They are awesome basses but I like his normal stuff better.

On Mike's Site the UV models have upgraded Rosewood fingerboards (typically Brazilian or Madagascar Rosewood) a 7.5" radius, thinner vintage frets, and 20 frets. The UV is just supposed to have the typical pre CBS P or J feel. I have to agree that his regular 12 inch radius is incredibly addictive and effortless to play.
However, you could order a V4 a P4, a PJ4 54p or M4V with any combination of these options from any dealer. It is a custom shop after all. Mike rarely ever has any completed basses in stock. Dealers chose every option and every detail of the basses they buy and Mike builds each one to order.
The TC4 the PJ4 the PT and JT, the 54P and many other "models" were repeated dealer requests that became "models" after the fact.
If someone wanted an all mahogany, J body with two precision pickups, a reverse headstock, a 12 inch radius 20 vintage size frets with Nitrocellulose finish, any dealer can order it. They might just end up calling it the JPP4 and make a Model out of it...

Good info. I'm a die-hard vintage radius fan... I just assumed that most guys who look for a modern-style P or J don't really consider them because that's not what they're looking for. But for someone who wants something "vintage +" (like a PJ in a P body with a J neck), there's not much out there.
I just wanted to say I am still in a love afair with the new TC4. Its my go-to bass for gigging, and will be when it comes to recording (for everything but when I need that vintage P tone, got that covered elsewhere). Had it out for a show on Friday night, and it just sings thru my Streamliner 900 and Berg AE212. One happy camper, here.

Get funky with that thing, brotha! Nice bass, haven't tried one yet. It'll probably be awhile too because I'm perfectly satisfied with my 2 Lull's.
Its the same as an M5 or M5V. I used to have an M5V and they play exactly the same, except I prefer the P body.
