Hey guys, hope it's OK to post this problem here. I'm thinking others may have had the same problem?

I have a Lull M4V with Lindy Fralin hum cancelling pickups and an OBP-3 preamp, run by two 9 volt batteries. It seems to go through batteries like crazy. I maybe get 2 -3 months and likely less than 40 hours before they go dead. And when they go dead, it's instant, no slow dying of the batteries. I do not leave my bass plugged in when I'm not playing it.

I guess my question is, does an 18 volt OBP-3 go through batteries like crazy, or is there something wrong with my bass?

I've never experienced any problems with the 18 volt OBP-3 in my M5V going through batteries as you're describing.

However, (not related to the battery issues you're having) the original OBP-3 quit working after I had a local shop replace it's stock Duncan SC's with the Bartolini humcancellers that are in it now. I sent the bass directly to Mike's shop and had the faulty OBP-3 replaced with a new OBP-3.

I recommend that you give Mike a call and run the problem past him.

I had a Modulus Q6 with a factory OBP-3 that ate batteries. I sent it back and they replaced it. IIRC, it was much quicker than you are experiencing, however.

Thanks, Leon (if you're talking about my Aztec Gold bass). It does play very nicely and the sound engineers at my church prefer it over my other very fine basses. I'll try to post some better pictures to highlight the beauty of the instrument.

Aztec is a great color. I would love to see a mint guard on that awesome bass. Not that anything is at all wrong with white. Just a funky idea that wouldn't cost much. Eh, maybe it would be ugly...

I gotta differ with you on that, Paulie, sounds ghastly to me. guy on another thread has a sonic blue bass and is thinking of putting a sparkly gold PG on it, makes me shudder.

Mike recommended the white pickguard. My main thing was having a matching headstock. It looks really great and I don't think my photo does it justice. I'll try to post a better one soon.
