I just tried HighBeams 40-120. They are very good but I'm still on the search. I've got a set of stainless D'Addarios 40-125 on the way.
My question to you all is what's the sonic difference between High Beams and the Sun Beams? Sorry if I'm screwing up the names.
This sounds silly but there are two things I'm looking for in strings on the Lull M5V. 1. To reduce the natural upper midrange honk on my G string when slapping. 2. Strings that will wash and recover well in denatured alcohol. I've been using this method for years with great success. Some, few string brands just recover their brightness better than others after washing. Stainless D'Addarios have done very well with brightness after washing. DR's mixed results.

My first Lull arrived yesterday. As hard as it was, I let it set over night and dug into it this morning. Amazing bass! Plays like a dream!

Yeah, I still can't get over how light it is and how amazing it sounds. Its like a dream come true!

Hi yall.

I got a question: I posted in another thread for TH500 amp and replies assumed my MV5 had Sadowsky electronics. First I heard that but I don't know a lot about these basses. Upon further research I am wondering if Sadowsky is common and my S/N 2200 is an exception.
Is that accurate?

According to email reply from [email protected] from May 2013 (after I bought it from local store without knowing for sure) it is Aguilar pre with the mid knob pulled and Bart pre when pushed, and slightly different freq sweep. I assume the bass and treble are also toggled between the two brands. Its passive when volume pulled which shuts off everything but pan. I just fired off an email asking what type of pickups.

Later: just found the listing on Gelb for the bass is still up and it says Duncan hum-canceling but, um, I got hum in passive when I take my fingers off the strings!

I eagerly awaiting reply from "service" because Gelb didn't know it had Aguilar pre (that part I remembered) and you see it not listed in their posting so maybe there is still more to learn about this one. Here is the listing.

Anyway, I love and am very happy with this bass. I would like to try one slightly narrower at the nut and 34" scale but I am happy. Super light and still perfect balance.

I'm guessing it was just a mix up by the poster as Sadowsky makes an MV5.

I assume you have an M5V?

That's unrelated to single/hum-canceling. That's grounding, and there may or may not be anything you can do about it. The good news is, it is probably venue dependent if it's there or how loud it is. Depending on pickup design, there might be ways to improve it, but requires some wiring and possibly soldering... not everybody is up for that.
