According to email reply from [email protected] from May 2013 (after I bought it from local store without knowing for sure) it is Aguilar pre with the mid knob pulled and Bart pre when pushed, and slightly different freq sweep. I assume the bass and treble are also toggled between the two brands. Its passive when volume pulled which shuts off everything but pan. I just fired off an email asking what type of pickups.

Later: just found the listing on Gelb for the bass is still up and it says Duncan hum-canceling but, um, I got hum in passive when I take my fingers off the strings!

I eagerly awaiting reply from "service" because Gelb didn't know it had Aguilar pre (that part I remembered) and you see it not listed in their posting so maybe there is still more to learn about this one. Here is the listing.

Anyway, I love and am very happy with this bass. I would like to try one slightly narrower at the nut and 34" scale but I am happy. Super light and still perfect balance.

The pickups may or may not be hum-cancelling since both are options listed on MikeLull.com. Not all M5Vs have the same configuration since Mike builds them to suit the customer so what Gelb currently has on their web site may not have the same pickup/pre configuration that your bass has.

So I just got my new Lull delivered on Friday and have been playing ever since (minus that little thing called work). Great bass!! I am really happy with it so far. It is an ash/maple M5V with a P pickup in the neck position. It actually has the route for the J pickup as well so that I can switch it over to a JJ when I want to with minimal effort (I think someone else in the club has that setup to.) It is 34 scale length. Duncan/Bart combo for electronics.

Initial impressions: Fit and finish is great. Love the color, Candy Apple Orange. The fingerboard wood has a nice look to it as well. I was a little worried about the low B on the 34 scale. Mine feels solid. I can only compare it to my Sadowsky metro since it is the only other 5 string I own (also happens to be 34 scale), and the B’s are on par with each other. Of course the B does feel a little different then what I recall my 35 scale Lull’s felt like, but that is to be expected as the bass as a whole feels different.

That looks really sharp with the black pickguard, eh? It ties the whole thing together nicely, and tames the bling a bit...

Have no fear, Mike's Bs are clear!!!! :)

My M5V is also 34" and the B is very strong and focused. NO issues!

They felt that having it on the website was confusing, they offer 12 fret or 7 1/2 inch radius on all 4 string basses, stainless frets and Madagascar are also options... so The UV4 and UP are gone as models to make room on the website for the PT's the new 24 fret models the NRT etc... but the options are still available with the exception of Braz...

Finally got my 4 main giggers up on the wall. Along with my Lulls are an '05 American Fender Jazz which Mike PLEK'd when I was touring through Seattle and my beloved Skjold Slayer. I still can't believe the MTD lives in the closet, but that's the way it is.
