Have been playing this now for a week in different settings, and it is so nice to be back in passive, vintage vibe jazz bass land! I really like my other modern, active basses for what they are, but this one is like going back to where I started in the 70s with Fenders. Only this one is more comfortable to play, great feeling neck, less weight, no neck dive. Soundwise it has more complex midrange but still sounds very much like what a jazz bass should, at least for me.

A question for you Lull experts: I notice that even though the V4 is supposed to be full size body, when comparing it with a Fender, it actually is smaller, narrower at the lower bout. I don't have a problem with that at all, but do you know why Lull has chosen to do it like this?

Got the V4 back from Mike (that was fast) and this hot-rod jazz is everything I wanted it to be. Modifications include: replace Lindy Fralin pickups with Nordstrand Big Singles. Add Aguilar OBP-2 preamp running at 18 volts (2 battery boxes on the back). Controls are V, V, stacked Bass/Treble, with active/passive mini switch. Sounds fantastic. The bass boost is incredible at 18v. Happy camper here.

Hello! Ha! There's a club here for almost every bass I have. Here's a PJ-5. As far as I know, it's the only reverse headstock one in existence. At least it was around a year ago. This one has seen many gigs since I ordered it in '07. It weighs 8 lbs. even and sounds and plays amazing. Sadly, this one hasn't been played much lately since most of the things I've been doing are sort of old school. The color is Sherwood green.

That is one very cool bass! How are those big singles? Any chance of soundclips?

Just as advertised on the Big Singles.

Won't have any spare time (travel) for a week or so, maybe in a few weeks I can put something up on my soundcloud, and give you all a link.

I doubt I could convince Mike to make this kinda jazz part of his model lineup, but it should be, man, it should be.

Well, I hesitate to post this given all the great basses posted lately, but I just ordered a new one. This will be the first new bass for me since shortly after there was dirt.

Specs:

M5V, 34" scale
Rosewood board, no face dots
Alder body, spalted maple top, 2TB
No pickguard
No control plate
Vintage tint on neck
Duncan LHB pickups
Bart 3band pre

Ordered thru Rocket Music

The wait begins ....
