The Mike Lull Club Part 4

Just put in an order for a NRT4 with reversed headstock. Now its just a matter of waiting.

That's what's up! Here's my new one- ImageUploadedByTalkBass1393641357.410747.jpg

I should really have joined this Club when I got my M5V. So a belated hello to everyone from the Isle of Man. After a number of months of trying to get "another-make" bass to work for my regular gigs I gave up on the poor strap balance and too-close-for-me string spacing and picked up a PJ5 from Bass Direct in Warwick.

Here she is, beautifully understated in Black Trans:

35" scale, Nordy pickups and a return to passive for me. I have yet to gig her but it all sounds raw and full of character at home through a GB Shuttle 6.2.

looks like I will be joining the club soon. I just ordered this one from Rocket Music after eyeing it for about a year. It has a P neck and J pickups. It will be perfect for one of my bands - I want the J sound, but the J neck is too narrow for me. If I like it, I'm going to order a 35" fiver for my other band, but I am still agonizing over whether to go with P pickups or the PJ configuration on that one.

That one is great! I played it at a visit to the shop and it's a winner for sure.

My vote for the 5er would be P/J.

It arrived safely in Brooklyn, and I've been playing it without an amp, just with an ear (literally) on the bass. Sounds very nice. Might not be the strings I'd choose, but Rocket kindly included a different set. Great neck on this bass.

I'll get it up to the country and put it through its paces with an amp and some studio time. So far so good!
