Bowing out of this thread for now. I ended up going Wonderlove Deluxe. Other than digging the sounds I'm hearing, the effects loop is huge for me, as I like the OC2/You're Doom into filters as much as for straight funk. I like not needing to change settings drastically depending on how I'm using it, and I appreciated that with the v1 Wonderlove I used to own. I also remember the up/down changing being much easier to shift between on the fly compared to some other pedals (I haven't played a Microtron) And, I know it's not a popular pedal, but as a super wet (whistly) kind of filter, I really like my Bassballs clone, the Mooer Sweeper. It's not for everything, but I'll be able to leave that dialed into it's sweet spot for another flavor.

Edit: I did talk to Taylor at Iron Ether about a cool workaround for an effects loop on the Xerograph Deluxe if you don't need the expression input. Cool.

To those who got a Micro-Tron III: Have any of you given the Battery Buddy a serious test? I sold my Micro-Tron III, and the buyer went with the less expensive, Battery Buddy-not-included option, so I'm trying to decide whether or not to sell mine, or maybe give it to my great-nephew.

Mine shipped without the battery buddy. I am enjoying the pedal though.

Needing to change filter settings for octave/fuzz is never ideal onstage. I do dig the Microtron's quack and form-factor though. Any ideas on how feasible it would be to mod/rehouse it with an effects loop (and who could do it)?

No idea, sorry. It does seem to me (just looking at videos, no direct experience) that people are able to dial in the Microtron pretty quickly, so maybe it's not that big a deal to adjust quickly live.

Yeah is indeed very easy to dial, certainly not a deal-breaker for me. Was just imagining how great an fx loop would make it...

I got through a two hour gig with it without losing a light on the meter. I only engaged it for a couple of songs though.

Used the MT3 extensively last night in my space doom band - and I'm pleased to report that it excels in space doom rock as well as the funk. I fed it with my Pharaoh and set it so it would stay open for the most part. The preamp in the MT3 made everything sound killer with a little closure at the end of the note.

I must say I do not regret getting this pedal.

I don't know when I would use it though unless backup for my cell phone or if one of my Power supplies crapped out. If I had a small board Could probably use it to power the whole thing .

I wouldn't say that at all. I've been through a lot of filters and this is definitely top of the line for me. For me and my set up they make the dark leaf stuff sound like a wet towel. I loved my proton until I put it head to head with some other filters. It immediately went bye bye and the wonderlove wasn't any better.

So the Micro-tron III is your 'go to' filter?
I am , and have been for some time, on the lookout for a filter.
The dicumbobulator is on my to try list as well...

Filters, fuzz, analog octave... Everyone has their own preference but I would say the Micro-Tron is very high on the list of filters. I haven't play anything that is this responsive besides the Tru-Tron. I can easily get a subtle to full 'quack' playing finger style and controlling my attack. The thing I hate about most filters I've tried is that t just seem to spike right to the peak like a guitar player using a wah with no control, just snapping their foot forward.

Likewise for me... as far as single-width pedals go (with top jacks to boot), the Micro-tron takes the cake over a slew of others. Only others in this form-factor still on my radar are Xerograph and Joshwah... but perfectly content with MT3 for now.

On my gig board I currently have the Micro-Tron, Wonderlove and a Future Impact. I eventually want to get another Xerograph so I can cover all my filter 'needs'

The FI for the synth tones, the Wonderlove for the fuzz-octave filtering that I love and the Xerograph for expression pedal sweeps. But when it comes to a classic funk sound it's the Micro-Tron. Like the Tru-Tron, it's the sound I hear when I picture how an envelope filter should sound.

I have a three knob Xerograph on my board for filter sweeps... and the MT3 for the classic filter funk.
