I have Mutron III 0601! How many original Mutrons were there?

Mike, It would be pretty cool if the next version had a CV & Gate out so I could get Mutron response out of all my synths.

You know - last night on my own I was playing around with Mu-Tron IIIs and I found an absolutely great overdrive tone where the filter doesn't kick in and you get this just awesome crunch. I wonder if I could get someone like johnk to build me a Mu-Tron drive box? That would be the bomb! I love the gain on the original III.

I in the past would occasionally use mine just for that. Ha glad someone else found the sound appealing too.

I no longer own any, but I used to own an original Mu-tron III and the Octave Divider. Man, if ever there was an fx company where I lusted for every product they offered, it was Musitronics!

I am a bit like @FilterFunk in that I have never met a filter I wasn't curious about and wanted to try!

The Mutron is one of my all time favorites but it doesn't mean I don't love the Moog for example. The more filters the better!

I do need to admit that between originals, clones and inspired by Mutrons make up over 90% of my filter collection!

Could you argue every filter pedal is inspired by the Mutron since Mutron came first?

I have a Mu-Fx Mutron here next to my original. I like the size weight and the fact that it nails the tones I love from the original well. I don't, however, get the advantage of the gain structure. It's hard to saturate with out adding a ton of gain and I'm a bit disappointed in how high it needs to be pushed in pre mode to saturate. Sort of a useless feature, I would have preferred it to be set for unity gain and use of the extra knob for clean blend. I love the BPF tone with clean bottom but its a hassle to get it on the Mutron live due to needing extra splitters and blenders.

All thinks considered, if I start playing live again I would consider the Mu-FX as a replacement for my original on stage. much easier(smaller & Lighter) to integrate and nails my fav tones.

Also, it looks great in person!

Funkinthetrunk - you only have issues if it keeps you from paying your bills.

Have you ever tried the original Agent 00Funk? Also, I notice you have a Wonderlove. Have you tried the Proton as well?
