Double Bass the new AI Ten2

If it's exclusively an electric gig, the Ten2 head removes easily with two thumb screws. Put it atop a 410 cab and you're in business.

There is even a set of rubber feet stashed in a little well on the bottom of the case...unscrew them from their storage holes, attach them to the set of holes on the four corners with a screwdriver and you're ready to go.

OR two 8x10's! :hyper: :D

The new Clarus+ doesn't appear to have any heat sinks.

Does it have a cooling fan?

Post # 16 onward is somewhat disconcerting...

The "New Clarus +" is actaully the same exact head as what used to be called the Focus 2RIII I believe. This head has had a very good track record by all indications by owners here on TB...

I owned one for two years and at times it got pretty hot but never had a problem...

This may be off topic, or have already been addressed, so I apologize for any redundancy in advance.

Doe anyone know if I can convert my series III Coda to this cabrio system? I would love to be able to pop the head out of that sucker and use it with a bigger cab every now and again.

Thanks
Scott McCannell

Further experience/reassurance! :)

BTW. Is the plate reverb bright & bass-shy enough for subtle use with bass?

I have an Alesis NanoVerb which sports this type of plate reverb, and since the Clarus+ uses an Alesis DSP chip...

EDIT:

Fender VI-->Channel 1 EQ'd for a full tone-->Effects loop 1 out-->Channel 2 input high-pass filtered @ ~ 250 Hz-->on board plate reverb set 100 % wet--> blended with Channel 1 = a bass guitar sound with a halo of reverb which doesn't muddy the bottom end. :)

I understand that AI programmed their own effects chip for the Ten2 head.

Perhaps AI did tweak the DSP chip(s) used in the Clarus+ amp section of the new Ten2, however there's this from the downloadable 'Amp Heads
Clarus, Clarus SL, Focus: Series III
' manual:

Effects (Clarus 2R and Focus 2R)

"Our high-quality effects units (which use the Alesis DSP chips) offer 6
program selections: 3 reverb programs (Hall, Room and Plate), a delay, an
ambient chorus and a flanger. There are switches to select which of the two
channels are processed by the effects unit. Either channel can be connected to the effects unit. If both switches are engaged, the selected program appears in both channels. A level control affects the level of the reverb signal that is mixed with the “dry” signal to control the overall effect of the selected program. You should experiment with both the program selection and the level control to find the sound that you prefer. When effects are not used, the switches for both channels should be off and the level control should be turned fully counterclockwise."

Since it can be used as an extension cab, I'm assuming it is 8 ohms- Is this correct?

The Ten2 EX sounds like a winner to me, but I'm also wondering if my Clarus 1, Series II will power it sufficiently. Does anyone have any opinion on this or can anyone give me an idea of the sensitivity of the cabinet?

I have been underpowering an Acme B2 for upright gigs for awhile and the results are acceptable, but I like the idea of lightening the load by 30 lbs! thanks for your input

according to Bob Gollihur the Ten2Ex is a 4 Ohm cab (just like the Coda Ex).

I've updated that; the impedance wasn't firm, initially, and I missed editing it to the final spec.

-----------------------------------------

FOUR OHMS is the correct final spec.

8 ohms would be strange, regarding the fact that all other enclosures are 4 ohms, the ai combos go to their full potential only with a 4 ohms(the built-in is also 4ohms, makes 2 ohms parallel) hooked to them. I suspect the heads also to run to their full watts on 2ohms, meaning that you hook 2x4ohms to them.

And, this being a 2x10, that would mean two 16 ohms speakers inside.

Now, that certainly was a lot of "ohms".

But then again, who knows what´s cooking in rick jones´s mind. There might be a reason. Though I couldn´t think of one.

Why not ask him? I´ll mail him. Also because I want one, and I´d like to know before.

Best
