The new Digitech BP355.

I'm still digging the samples! How about some autowah, phaser maybe even the drum samples?. I'm really thinking about returning my MXR M80 I just bought in favor of the BP. How is the tuner and is there a "dry" DI out?
I've got the manual saved on my HD I guess I should check it out again! :)

Glad you enjoyed the sound samples, brent. I did do sound samples of the phaser effects. I haven't done sound samples of the auto wah effects, but I can do that. I've never done drum machine sound samples before. If I am about to do that, it'll probably be a 2 or 3 parted sound sample. I haven't tried the tuner yet and yes there is a dry DI output according to the owner's manual. I was wondering why do you want to return the mxr m80? you might wanna keep that pedal as an emergency effect. I have emergency effects just in case something happens to my current effects. it doesn't hurt to have emergency effects.

If you're not satisfied with the mxr m80, you can simply return it to where ever you've purchase the pedal. there are plenty of effects to try out. if you like what you hear from the digitech bp355 and was wondering if it's worth owning, I'd say it is worth owning. it's got great sounding amp and cab models, smooth and heavy distortion channels, and a variety of great effects like modulation effects, reverbs ,delays, etc. in case you're wondering what emergency effects I own, I have a hartke bass attack pedal and a danelectro fab chorus pedal. my next purchase will be a digitech bass driver. not only are these pedals my emergency pedals, their also my most treasured effects.

It's okay, Electricblue. I easily understand that digitech effects is not really your cup of tea. there are plenty of effects out there that sounds awesome on bass like line 6, boss, zoom, mxr, etc. I won't judge you for that. everyone has their personal taste in effects.

Did you first turn off the amp & cab models in each of the BP355's pre-sets? If not, then which ones did you use, and what are you using for an actual bass rig?

The patches I created, I had the amp models on. on my distortion patch, I use the boss metal zone model, a fender dual showman model with the acoustic 1x18 cab model on amp a. on amp b, I use the same distortion model(I think you can only use the same distortion channel on one patch) with a fender bassman model and the acoustic 1x18 cab model. on my clean chorus patch, I use the digitech dual chorus model with a digitech clean amp model with an eden 4x10 cab model on amp a. on amp b, same chorus model with an ashdown magnifier amp model with an eden 4x10 cab model. I also created an overdrive channel. I use a voodoo lab sparkle drive model with an ashdown magnifier amp model with an eden 4x10 cab model on amp a. on amp b, I use a fender bassman model with a fender bassman model 4x10 cab model. as for my rig, I use a gallien-krueger 700rb-II bass head through a gallien-krueger goldline 4x10 bass cab. like I've mentioned before, the digitech bp355 sounds awesome through my rig.

Hello there!

First time posting, I just started learning to play almost a month now with an Ibanez SR300M and I just bought an Acoustic B20. I want to experiment with effects and I like what I see about the BP-355, but I have noticed that there has not been any reviews online from big websites or magazines. All I can find is just talk in forums. Are there any reviews online?

Welcome to the effects section of talkbass, moofknock. there is one review of the digitech bp355 on musician's friend and one review on sweet water. I'll be posting a review of my own on those websites sometime soon. I really appreciate that and those samples are great, but what I'm referring to is reviews from the press, any major bass website or magazine, or any comparison review against other similar products, etc. Are there any out there?

Hi, Crystalman. Just wanted to know a few things regarding the Digitech BP355 before I buy it.

How are the synth sounds and are they flexible..meaning can you get a wide variety of quality sounds?
The looper...mainly why I am interested in this unit...I know from the online manual it has 20 secs. Can you do multiple overdubs? Can you change sounds while using the looper?

How does this unit stack up to previous units that you have owned?

Hope I am not being a nuisance...just want to get a hands-on testimonial before purchasing the BP355.

Apparently no...there are no press release reviews of the digitech bp355 on any major bass website and major bass magazine. they only have info of what the bp355 has. they only reviews on the digitech bp355 are on online music store websites.

The digitech bp355 has only one synth sound. and that is a synth talk. the other effects on the digitech bp355 that's synth related is an auto-ya and ya-ya(which is a wah-like effects that combines a wah with a flanger effect) and a step filter(which is digitech's accurate word for a step sequencer).

And yes you can do some overdubs. I think you can do at least 4 overdubs. I'm not quite sure about that. I've never used loopers before. also I'm not quite sure if you can change overdubs during the looping. I don't think it's possible, but could be worth a try.

I dig the bp355. it does have a lot more options than the rocktron utopia b100 and the line 6 bass floor pod. it definitely one of the best bass multi-effects processors I have own. of all the multi-effects processors I've own, I like the digitech bp355, the zoom b2.1u and the korg ax3000b the most.

And lastly, if synth sounds is your thing, you might be better off with a zoom b2.1u or the korg ax series(i.e ax3b, ax5b, ax3000b) because these multi-effects processors has better options for synth sounds. digitech is a little limited on synth effects. the digitech bp355 is more focused on amp and cab models, distortion channels, modulation effects, reverbs and delays. hope this helps you out.

Thanks for the info, I just want to be sure before I buy any effect that it is what I am after. I am primarily a "Hobbyist"
and just want something to amuse my self. I will probably go buy one tommorrow at Guitar Center (Arlington Heights) and if I don't like it I can always take it back.

Anytime, dude. I can understand that you're a hobbyist. which would explain you're user name. in my opinion, the digitech bp355 is worth trying out if you're into amp and cab models and distortion channels(which is what I like about the digitech bp355 along with the modulation effects). I take it that you're from Illinois because you've mentioned a guitar center in Arlington heights. I use to go to that guitar center with my brother. anywho, the digitech bp355 has a large variety of effects, amp and cab models. you can create a lot awesome sound with this multi-effects processor. I enjoy the digitech bp355. I can create a lot of cool sounds with it. it's a definite keeper for me.
