Sad to hear that, I often like to read from both users and press when purchasing something that I'm interested in.

Well, I'm going to do a leap of faith, helped by your demos. I'm starting out on the bass and learning new things every day, and I'm eager to experiment with effects. Going to GC this coming Friday to buy it :)

Got my BP355 today!! I am totally impressed. The looper, which I was most interested in, is fantastic. I was able to do 6 loops at once and change each loop sound. Sweet! I am still diving into all the features and sounds but trust me, I will get there. I am happy with the synth sounds. The drum patterns are good although there is not much variation with each genre of patterns. But this is a great unit. I hope to be using the software soon so I can record and share.

Have tried the included software which controls its parameters? Said software shows all the options on one page, makes adjustments quick & easy (thus encouraging more experimentation), saves custom settings as a file to a computer's hard drive (I believe), and eliminates the need to wear out the BP's rotary switches in the hunt for new sounds.

Yeah the 'drum machine' is really just a decent sounding simple beat box (it is on my RP355) whose patterns can't be edited or sequenced together. It is convenient though.

Hmm... I wonder if the sounds in BP355's drum machine can be triggered via an external sequencer...

I will be trying the software out tommorrow. I have been playing my butt off with this thing. The cool thing about the looper..dang am I obssessed with looping...is that you can lay out some real cool bass drumlike patterns and then lay a good bassline and presto (good album) walla!!! Got to try something with the delay. Says it has 5 seconds. Well, that is enough time for a great line. Use that with the drum machine...hmmm it is 4:30 am, time to wake the neighbors!!!

Side note (to myself..mainly) reading the manual really is important. You might uncover a secret button...tone knob!!!

From the BP355's manual:

"Note: While the Phrase Looper feature is active, the Drum Machine feature is not available."

This is the same limitation found in the RP355.

But even so these units offer a whopping value on a sound quality/ease-of-use/versatility/price basis in what appears to be a sturdy case.

Glad you'd enjoy it. like I've mentioned before, you can create a lot of cool sounds with the digitech bp355. also it's pretty cool that you're able to do 6 loops on the looper. if you do get a chance to record something with the digitech bp355, feel free to share it.

I did record sound samples for those curious about the digitech bp355. that's what got me starting my soundclick website. I have owned many different multi-effects processors in the past and I have put them to the test and one day I decided to record sound samples and started a soundclick website to help out talkbass members how certain multi-effects processors sound. so far it did help them out. and I was given good compliments on my sound samples. anyways, rather if you're a beginner or advanced player, I think you'll find the digitech bp355 a real joy to have. it has a large variety of effects, amp and cab models and you can create a lot cool sounds with this multi-effects processor. it sounds awesome for recording and I'll bet it sounds awesome for live performances. I haven't gigged with digitech bp355 yet, but if I did, I let you know about it.

Dont yet know how to do the quote thing yet. Crystalman, again, this thing rocks. Was doing a cool peter gunn theme loop earlier and just sounded incredible. Editing sounds are real easy.
Still haven't try the edit programs as well as the Cubase yet but I will get to that soon enough. Would love to share my ideas.
I have played for about 30 years and would be a shame if I didn't get some sort of recognition for my talent.

Hi Guys, new to the thread.

I'm wondering if there is a way to run my vocals through the bp 355 to my looper, and then back to the bp 355 so that the effects are 'in time'?

Honestly, I know this is possible with the GT -10B, but I also know that it cost $500. lol

Is the digitech comparable at all to gt-10b?

The quote thing is actually pretty easy. first you have to log in and then when you go to threads, every post has a quote icon on the bottom right of the post. when you want to quote on someone's post, click on the quote icon and it'll direct you to reply to thread with the post you want quote on. when you're there, go down two spaces below the quote and then type what you want to say. it's real easy to do.

And yes...the digitech bp355 totally rocks. it does take some time to learn how to edit programs and how to use cubase. you just need to take your time to do those things and then you'll be on your way to know what's what. that's amazing that you played music for 30 years. if you have recorded music, social network websites like soundclick, soundcloud, last.fm, and reverbnation are great ways to get some recognitions.

I do recommend this site to anyone who plays in a band and wanted to share their music. it's also a great website to attract new fans. Welcome to the effects section of talkbass, musicspeaks. there is a way to use the bp355 for vocal effects. first you need an audio interface system like the mackie xd-2(a.k.a the mackie spike power recording system) or the m-audio fast track. hook up the recording mic to the bp355 with a mic cable that has either an effects connector or an xlr connector. and then hook up the bp355 into the audio interface system with an instrument cable and then dial in the effects you want before recording vocal tracks and then record the vocal tracks when ever you're ready.

To answer your last question, not exactly. the boss gt-10b has distortion and cab models much like the boss gt-6b. it does have amp models, but it's on the same section as the distortion channels. the digitech bp355 on the other hand has separate amp and cab models sections and distortion channels sections which pretty useful for recording purposes. both the boss gt-10b and the digitech bp355 has a large variety of effects, amp and cab models, but I dig the digitech bp355 the most. Moof here! I know that this has the drum tracks for you to practice with, which calls to my attention since using a metronome can be sooooo boring. Does it allows you to change the tempo, like selecting 80 bpm for example? if it does what range does it allows you to change it too and if it's easy to see when the beat starts, like a flashing light or something like that.

The drum patterns tempos can be changed. Not sure about the flashing light thing but it is real easy to use and change patterns.
Also, the looper is extremely useful for practicing or just flat out jamming. What I like to do is set a jazz riff and then change the sound to distortion and rock it out. The sounds are truly amazing. I really cannot compare it to any other effects units but I am very happy I got this. Try it out and you will see what I am talking about.

Yes it does have a 5th and 6th whammy effect. it does a little better than the digitech bp200. the whammy effect on the digitech has better control range. if you do plan on purchasing the digitech bp355, by all means go for it. I think you'll be amazed by the sound quality.
