For me the main thing is funtionality, friendly user. It seems that we will have a long way to have a friendly website. The iPhone application been down is lame. Many people like me use it 85% all the time, and yes you can acces the website but is a drag. Why trying to reinvent the wheel instead of improve the old version.

Hmn. Odd--on both my desktop and my tablet it opens up in Retro.
Yea, I'm sure I could look around my security settings and stop that from happening but that would rub my OCD security / IOP bone the wrong way.

I can pay the price for being a Luddite. Just something new and different to gripe about for a change

I don't like it, it's clunky and cheap looking. It lacks the bold links, and the home page does not tell you which forums the threads are in. Also, when you click forums, it doesn't highlight the active discussions or thread titles. I also don't like the font sizes/styles

No one ever really likes change. People like being comfortable with what they know and are use to. I always found it interesting that musicians, who you would think would be very open to new ideas, being creative types, would be the first to welcome new things. I've found it to be pretty much the opposite. Ever try to get a guitarist to think outside his comfort zone??? ;)

There are many still playing 1950s design basses through 1960s design amplification and cabinets.

I'm getting used to the new style, but a bold bar between posts would be easier to interpret.

Have you tried the "TalkBass Retreo" theme? It has a dark blue bar between each post. Here's how your post looks with the Retro theme:

It's the opposite for me. The new layout has brought me back. Everything before was quite a mess and too many clicks to get where I wanted to be. No easy way to see where new things were commented and that I'd been quoted in some place.

One thing I do really miss, however, is the button to go right to the newest post on the front page. Now you have to click it at the top of the thread after clicking on the thread first.

Quick edit: Also, everyone gets avatars now? *goes and updates that right away!*
