Someone definitely blew their defensive coverage on the game winner last night. Two guys covering along the boards and that left a back-hand pass go out for the winning breakaway? Oopsie!

And what a nice fake-Brodeur-right-out-of-his-skates-move by Kopitar!

Loved the low scoring game to open the series!!! Gonna be fun to watch!

I think the Kings got away with one last night. They weren't playing their typical game until deep into the 3rd period, and then it started to fade again in OT. The Kings passes were sloppy and often bad choices, and the lack of intensity and determination that they usually show was turned down a few notches. Both Parise and Fayne missed open net chances that should have been goals. The one NJ goal bounced off Voynov's chest making it the second time in the playoffs he has inadvertantly put one in his own net.

Kopitar took advantage of a defensive collapse and made NJ pay in the worst way. Hell of a move he made on Marty.

With Lidstrom gone, I think it becomes a little harder for Detroit to land a superstar free agent. It's pretty easy to tell someone to sign a contract and they can be on the first pair with one of the best ever, but it probably isn't as easy telling them they need to fill his shoes.

Despite playing for Detroit all these years, guy was someone I have a lot of respect for. It's impressive to see someone with so much talent be loyal to a a single city and team for any length of time, much less their entire career.

Suter goes to Detroit real fast is my bet. Parise to follow. Detroit is the dream for a lot of players. Original Six team? Contender since the late 90's? Lotsa dough to spend?

I disagree. They out-shot, out-skated, won more face-offs. Carter & Kope have some wheels. We got a peek at that.
9 opportunities in the 1st. Bringing back the Rob Blake hip-check. We knew Devils would be more physical but soft hands beat clinched ones. Anyway let's not jinx it. Good game. Kope is the man.

The Kings are definitely a faster team - no doubt. To me, it seemed that they weren't playing with as much intensity and sharpness as we've gotten used to seeing from them. The Kings did have more shots, but those two big missed chances by the Devils was a lucky break for Johnny-Q. Don't get me wrong. I love that the Kings won. I just think they weren't at their best.

And, yes, Kopi is the man.

Individually, yes, I like the Kings players. As a team, I just can't feel enthusiastic about them, even if they are in the finals.
