The Official 2012 NHL Stanely Cup Finals Thread: Part II

Pony, the former Pen, puts it away on a bad change as Feb said. I sure don't like to see any team lose like that. Bryz was hung out to dry. I've never liked Lilja, even when he was in Detroit.

I don't think I EVER remember so many OT's in playoff hockey... is this a new record?

All I know, 4 of the Devils' last 5 have gone to OT. The good news, we've come out on top 3 out of 4... But my heart can't take much more of these!

I was wondering the same thing myself, it has been insane so far.

Assuming this article is accurate, we're well on our way to achieving a record.

I less than 3 Patrick Warburton.

Tonight's game was spoiled thanks to a post shift beer at the bar next door that had poker on with a sports ticker running at the bottom,...so I'm not even gonna bother.

This stat popped out to me.

The Flyers committed just two giveaways to New Jersey’s 11

Really? Couldn't convert on 11 turnovers? What the christ?

And apparently the Devils' PK have got the answer to a Flyers' PP that went over 50% in the QFs.

Get it together boys. You are better than this.

50% is insane...nowhere to go but down, right?
Philly did pop in a PP goal early & I thought "...maybe this will jumpstart the PP". Nope. Jersey took it to them for the remainder of the 1st.
A couple of later Philly Power Plays...Jersey looked like they had the extra skater...or two.

And Giroux has really been neutralized. Need to get him loose...somehow.

Flyers may have blown their load on the Pens, and I can't blame them if they did. Lot of talent on the Pens team. We all talked about how there "wouldn't be anything left" of whatever team won. Maybe we were right. An 82 game season and then a grueling series against the Pens is a lot of tough hockey.

Then again the series is only 2-1 and far from over! Woooo playoff hockey!

Puddy!

LA is making Elliott and the Blues look bad. Nice goal from Richards to make it 3-1.

-Mike

Elliott made Elliott look bad. Those last two goals were really soft for a keeper of his ability - Richards' goal especially.

I saw a little news piece before last night's game that the Kings stayed in a hotel on Wednesday night and had a practice session at Staples Center (instead of their usual practice facility) to mimic being on the road as much as possible.

As a long-suffering Kings fan, I can't help but wonder, "Are we really this good?" I have to think that if it was just getting lucky breaks, our luck would have run out by now. I'm certainly enjoying the ride, but can't shake the feeling that it's a house of cards about to come crashing down.

And you could see it coming. The line that was on the ice was totally gassed. Briere poke-checked the puck out of the zone and immediately headed to the bench for a change. The rest of the unit also tried to get a change even though the puck was still in the neutral zone.

The Flyers have been an extremely resilient team, so it will be interesting to see how they respond. They responded well after back-to-back losses in the Penguins series, but I think that there will be more pressure on them on Sunday. It's not an elimination game, but I think that it is the first truly "must win" game that they've faced this playoffs.

By the way, does anyone else find Pierre Macguire as annoying as I do? It's like getting commentary from a more depressed, adult version of Charlie Brown.

I really can't stand most of the NBC guys. I'm obviously partial to my MSG announcers, but it was brutal listening to practically two games worth of announcing NBC Sports in that 3OT the other night.

I'd still rather have any of them than the Buffalo announcers.. Rick Jeanneret is the worst. Both him and the NBC guys have a habit of announcing it like a soccer game and yelling their heads off at every missed shot on net.

Only about 99.9% of the Canadian population. I wore three keyboards out sending emails to TSN's customer relations dept complaining about that twit. I think the day NBC "lured" him away is now a stat holiday up here.....
