Yep, I called this game. Closer than I thought, thanks to some lapses in the Flyer defense.
You can have all the great players you want, but if they don't match the intensity of the other team, it might as well be me and a couple of you guys out there.
Nice win Philly, and very cool to see Jagr get the game winner.

WOW!!! Just WOW!!! 8-5 Philadelphia! Pittsburgh played hard but Philadelphia would not be denied. Now it heads to Philly.

Wow, kudos to Philly for continuing to fight when Pittsburgh repeatedly took leads. Like Mike said, the Pens just couldn't match that intensity for the whole 60 minutes. Crosby and Malkin disappeared down the stretch, which was surprising to see. Both Bryz and Fleury looked totally out of sorts, although Bryz did manage a couple of spectacular saves. Ultimately, Philly's defense provided him the support that Fleury didn't have. I've love to hear what the soft-spoken Bylsma says to his crew to try and get them fired up for Game 3.
At the beginning of this thread, before any games were played, I was going to go off on this tangent about how you can't score 7-8 goals a game in the playoffs, so the Pens better play some defense.

All I can say as a Bruins fan is that I'm glad that I wasn't rooting for either team. If I had been, there'd be about a quart of Pepto in my gullet right about now. Great game. I would also add that as a Bruins fan, I've always hated but respected the Flyers for playing a tough, "we'll take it and give it" style. I hate the Penguins too, but they tend to embody more of a "we'll give it and then bitch about it" style.
Well I am simply overjoyed about the Jets passing on Couturier in the draft. He really fn sucks.
Haha, really? I take it you haven't heard all the whining from the Flyers coach recently? Even tonight he was all bent sideways.

I don't give a crap about coaches. I'm talking on-ice mentality. If it translates from a coach or a GM, it's still all about what happens on the ice.
Missed the game because I had to work till 11. Was really excited to hear it was close, not so excited to read the drivel about "bad" referees again. I'm really hoping we don't hae poor officiating the entire series.
Other than that, the cliff notes touched on the Bertuzzi and Weber fight, so now we can all put that mess behind us. The pictures made it look like a good go around too.
I feel pretty good with a 1-1 series, but not as confident as I would've felt taking a 2-0 into the Joe. We basically washed our home ace advantage away and need to get it don on Sunday.

Eh, that's alright. You (not you directly, you as in any of us) can paint about any guy in the league as a whiner if you want. I don't follow hockey to hear these guys talk, so I try to ignore it.

Here's a telling stat: the first two stars of the game were Giroux and Couturier, who were each +4. The only Penguin who was one of the three stars was Kunitz, who had 2 goals, but was a *minus 5* on the night. Ouch.
Don't give Detroit that much credit. Nashville's PP was just atrocious. No real movement, just going for perfect shots from the point (which get blocked by anyone and everyone, especially come playoff time).
It's like they had a team of Briere's out there (and not the scoring kind, the lazy kind).

That's with Couturier and Schenn shadowing them! How is Laviolette getting this matchup and Bylsma not conutering it? IN Pittsburgh!
I wonder why Talbot wasn't the third star? 2 points and a +5 on the night? Or Bryzgalov who made some outstanding saves in the third to keep the game close and seal the game for the Flyers when it really counted.
Now... must remain calm... not get hopes too high yet....
