I'll try and remember to take a picture of my dad's 4 string Cirrus next time I'm over there.

I wonder if a fair number of folks have these basses and don't realize -or don't think much about it- that they have a 4 string 35".

Looking at them it appears they are discontinued.

Here's a question, in addition to the Aria and Dean mentioned before, what affordable options are there for 4 string 35" basses?

I think a used Ibanez BTB could probably be had for 3-4 bills, probably less than 300 for the Cirrus BXP. My dad bought a 5 string Cirrus BXP for 250 and I imagine the 4 strings are even cheaper.

Nice to know that almost anyone can afford to try a 4-string 35".

'Affordable' is the tough part as I don't know what used prices are like on 35" scale 4 string basses.

Have no idea about prices. I know the Yammy's new were around $1K because I was looking at them. ESP's are probably a deal?

You're probably right about that.

Looking at them it appears they are discontinued.

I like the idea of this bass, I just don't know what its tone is like. The two most notable Dunable bass players I know don't have particularly strong positions in their band's mixes.

I briefly owned a Schecter Riot 4 - not the one that's really common (which I *think* is 34"), the one with the burled maple top, which is 35". They went for over $1000 new (they were Schecter's top of the line for a few years), but used ones, which are rare, go for more like $5-600 now, which is more than fair: thru neck, nice hardware, good pups. Very nice bass overall; totally giggable without mods. I sold it but I might regret it. Had no issues with it; I just got a sweet deal on it, played with it a bit & then re-sold because I didn't need another fretted 4. But if you see one for $450 or less with no problems, grab it. Recommend without qualification.

I just realized that this is a Jazz style bass body in a P/J configuration. Very nice.
Most P/J are a Precision style bass body or at least the ones that I am familiar with.
