To be honest, I don't know. I learned this by reading reviews (before the BA redesign). I chose this amp anyway because of the way it sounded compared to other small practice amps, I love it. I have never had any trouble with it either, but have never had a need to turn it up any higher than 5-6. Most of the time I am only powering headphones at around 4-5. When I want to get loud I plug into my buddies amps far away from the volume nazi I live with. :)

Welcome to the club.

Long time Ampeg BA fan here myself, I've been using an old BA210 combo as my main gigging "rig" for many years now, but it's been replaced recently on smaller gigs by my beloved BA112.

And my most recent amp purchase was also a BA108 that I snatched up mainly because I think it's got to be the best sounding "practice" amp ever devised. I keep it mostly for home use, but I wouldn't hesistate to use it at a small gig, just love the tone.

Congrats on the new amp. :)

My SVT810e that I refinished in Duratex, topped by a PF800.

You know, Craig's list is killing me - there's an 810e, with a cover, for $300.00, here: [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]
OK, it's covered in blue tolex, but that's nothing the 3/4 full can of Duratex can't fix. And it's $300! With a cover!
My 810e is calling out for a friend...

Is that a Blazer Bass in the middle?
FLip the blue cab and keep the cover for your refinish;)

Yes, an Ibanez Roadstar ll RB630. And I'm trying to convince my husband to let me buy, and keep both cabs. Everyone needs a backup :P

The two seem to be made for each other. It's the "tubeyist" sounding solid state amp I've ever heard.

It looks like your cab is a plywood model and the blue one is osb. You may want to keep in mind that the blue one is probably heavier and it won't be a perfect cosmetic match with the other one (yes, I am a nerd). It is a great deal though. I am in your neck of the woods - but I promise I won't grab it!

Picked up the cab today.

With the cover, a speakon cable, oozing with its "made in the USA" goodness, all for a mere $300.00. The guy selling it was moving to the east coast, and had to get rid of it. He's also selling a B-4R for $300, but I could only afford the cab.

It's made of that press board, and the blue is kind of hideous, but I'm thinking of stripping it, and using 4 of the speakers to make a pair of 1/4 SVT portable cabs. I can definitely use the cover for my refinished one, and the cable was a nice bonus.

Edit: I don't have my PF800 here in the house - it's at our practice space at the drummer's house. But I hooked it up to the Micro VR head. As to be expected, it's thunderous :D It's like these cabs were made specifically for Rickenbacker 4003 basses.

It appears that the blue tolex was applied by a previous owner. It does not look professionally done.

Yes, it feels a bit heavier than the plywood one. Still manageable, but noticeably heavier. Heh, playing the blues :P

A down side of the chip board models is that if you drop them, the wood can crack or the casters can punch through the bottom. You have to be careful when bouncing these cabs around.

It might be a good idea to carefully inspect the base for cracks when you get the skin off.
