the Official Ampeg Club Part 5

Can I join??
This is my MTI head and matching MTI cab... No haters please because this thing sounds awesome. I will post a pic of my other classic rig. Gotta get it off my other phone.

I think I may have saw this rig for sale recently (or one just like it). It was a great price IIRC.

I've never played an MTI head - but I used one of the cabs for a couple years in the '90's. I remember it kicked like a horse and it was a bit smaller then the other Ampeg 810's. It has two spring loaded handles instead of a towel bar on the back - right?

Anyone hating on the MTI stuff never played it. It's great.

I agree I just picked this up not long ago from CL for a grand. Head and cab and it's sound some kinda sweet. You know what I mean, you play those every now and again and I swear it sounds better than most if heard. I know it sound better than the second one I posted that as is a 02, I believe if I remember correctly and it's a dark year cab and it sounds like it for sure. I really am thinking about the Jensen mod. For under a hondo if it really makes the difference like I'm reading about it seems like it's a no brainer. Have you actually heard one with the mod? What's you input? Do it?

You are exactly right. A little smaller with the two spring loaded handles on the slant. It sounds great. You probably saw it on Flea Bay for 1290.00 a couple weeks ago. When I saw it was in Richmond VA, about an hour from me, I did the thing tour not supposed to do and messages him and told him I would be there tomorrow with cash. I picked it up for a grand and couldn't be happier.

I have not, sorry.

I sold my MTI SVT head to my best pal a decade ago. Now we're in a band together and he brings it in from time to time to taunt me! That amp is so gnarly.
Gnarly they are my friend. I think it has become my favorite. I got a great deal on it less than a month ago.
I took it to where we practice and have only jammed twice but it grows on me more and more. The Japanese did a fine job on mine.

After bout 3 months of ownership of this new ri V4B and 212AV, feeling it's a keeper. I think I'm about ready for a number please.

Original V4-B for sale locally but a bit pricey, from what I have seen. Though he has a mod.

I have never owned or even tried one. But for one band I am missing that all-tube sound. Do you think this would be at least as loud as a Mesa walkabout with a Berg CN-212? I might get my Mesa WA head back from TB'r I sold it to last year but considering this instead.

My Ampeg ,a B3 158 (1x15 - 1x8 biamp).Serves me almost 20 years now, without a single problem. The sound is very nice to my ears and the 100+50 watts sounds a lot more in real life.Only negative think is the overdrive, not so good.I never find a pleased sound with it.Other than that, excellent DI,plenty EQ,two amps, real tank. The only service i made is a little dioxide spray in pots, and this recently.Oh,and it's heavy also :roflmao:.
If i find cheap used head case/box for the SVT-350H i plan to use it with my B3,so i can carry it without the cab.The dimensions is identical.

Thanks for the number!

I wanted to update the thread and say that I sold the V4B to a young female guitar player in a metal band yesterday to fund another non Ampeg head.

The SVT II is a keeper and is one of the best all tube bass heads ever made along with the blue lines, I cannot see myself ever selling it because of the sheer power and creaminess it's capable of.
