Yeah, the V4B is a great amp. When I bought my first one, it was the best amp I had owned. There was nothing bad to say about it, but like a dummy, I moved it on in search of the next "best thing". I regretted it shortly after, and although I've had some great amps/cabs since, I've been waiting for the opportunity to buy another. After I got it, I was fortunate to find the 610 at a local shop, and now I have a setup that I'm really proud of. It is heavy, but I'm ok with that.

Also, any pics of your setup?

It's a V4B Classic, sitting on top of a US-made 610HLF. I'm just waiting for someone to start re-stocking the silver/blue grill cloth so I can match the 610 to the V4B. I had a V4B a while back, and I sold it for something I felt was better at the time. What a mistake that was. I love how the V4B sounds, warm, punchy, and easy to dial in a great sound. Want a little grit? Play with the Master/Gain settings to dirty up the sound to your hearts content. I also love how the 610 sounds with it. I know that the US made cabs and the 610 in general are "love-it or hate-it", but I love it. Mine is loud, but I have no problem hearing the high notes. It is a little heavy, but the towel bar and casters make it manageable.

Great cab! Mine's an american made as well I much prefer it with my SVT over an 8x10 :thumbsup:

I've done two gigs now with my PF50T and two SVT210AV cabs. I mount them vertically which gives great dispersion, I can hear myself fine at any place on stage. I got some large rubber feet for the amp so it sits on the cab securely, the stock ones are too low and in the wrong place. My bandmates have commented on the improvement in sound, which is strange, particularly as I've spent the last few years going for transparent sounding amps and cabs, and Ampeg definitely is not transparent. One advantage of the sealed cabs is that stage "boom" is very easily controlled with a small tweak of the bass knob. I was initially worried that a 50 watt head was not going to cut the mustard, but I have yet to push it into breakup territory. Today I received two padded speaker cab covers from Custom Covers. These are really well-made and durable looking covers and I didn't even have to supply the dimensions, they have all that information already. Trouble is my amp GAS is finally cured.... what do I have to obsess about and look forward to now?

The cabs aren't, but if you put the knobs at noon, it's awfully close to flat response if it isn't dead on it.

2 things my friend.

1: Am I to understand that you are jamming to an audience with a PF50T with no volume issues? Does this mean you were running through a PA or just the amp?

2: What the heck does "GAS" mean?????

The ability to pull this off is greatly dependent on the band you're in and your stage volume. I wouldn't be able to pull it off in an arena without PA, but I've done as large as an 800 seat theater without PA for the bass using a 25w B-15N in my oldies rock/R&B/pop band, so I could easily do most of my indoor gigs with the PF-50T and a couple 210av's and no PA. For that matter, I could use just one 210av and be just fine. But we rarely play without PA for instruments anymore, though we do a 3x per month gig in a small room atop a casino day cruise ship, and I use a BA112 with no PA and I can easily fill the room up with enough bass to get asked to turn down.

So I'm guessing, a guy could use a PF50T with an 810, and as long as they were in a 3 piece ZZ Top or Free type band in a 200-300 seat bar, they'd probably be ok? I'm sorry for the inquiries but I'm really wanting to add a PF50T to my collection. I've never heard one in person or even seen one that wasn't on the internet, but they just look so cool!

This is a relief to know cause if I'm gonna drop the money on this rig(PF50T and two SVT 210av's it's reassuring to know that it will keep up!
