the Official Ampeg Club Part 5

You started playing bass in 1968? GREAT! I started playing drums in 1968!
In 1969 I got my first own drumkit. I aimed for a Ludwig or a Rogers, or a Premier - English brand.
Couldn't afford these so instead I got a Pearl kit. Japanese, Me nor anybody else ever heard of the brand. Resembled a Rogers though, perfect copy. Nowadays Pearl is one of the leading brands in drums.

I've got an Ampeg v4b RI and considering partnering it with a 212 SVT cab. I'm fairly used to moving a Barefaced two10 to and from rehearsals, so my main concern is how portable and easy it is to move given that it is bigger and heavier. Question is, is it a one man job to move or is it doable to shift in an out of a Golf hatchback?

IMO, Its not too bad to move around, but I'm 6 ft tall and 230lbs. I guess it would depend on your size and strength. It is a fairly good size cabinet, but it goes in the back seat of my extended cab Silverado with my V4B, and dual bass Mono gig bag. It's much lighter than a 410 cab, and is easy to pick up by the handles. I love the sound of the V4B and SVT212AV.

I use a Magna Cart to move my 112AV+ri-V4B in a single trip. When I take the 212AV, I have to make two trips. But using this cart makes it very easy to move. I just slide it into and out of the back of my SUV onto the cart.

Shame on me, with all my micro-amps and lightweight cabs, I've not used any of the Ampeg gear in two years or so. But I'm starting a new power trio, Tx blues-rock, 60's RnB styles. I'll be using either my 112/212AV+V4B in this new project depending on the venue size. Looking forward to using the 'Peg gear soon. Will dust off the '08 Am St P5 too to use in this new band.

Get the cart out, put the 410 on it and the 350 on that and wheel it into the venue and up on stage.
The cart also makes it easier to move the gear on the stage. Ànd it's from the ground, which often is a boomy wooden plank floor.

I tried this one night, a few weeks ago, but it's just not the same as having the cabinet touching the stage. The cart is awesome, though!

Hi Club! I guess I've been a qualified Ampeg member since 2006, when I purchased a BA115! I've used this combo quite a bit over the years before obtaining more portable gear. Now I've brought it out of storage to be used as a rehearsal bass rig for my church. So now I'll get to use it more often and to become reacquainted with the Ampeg sound!

It's still in great shape but shows wear and some port damage from using a luggage cart to transport it.
So, I'm looking for a pair of Port Flanges for it. If you have a pair that's in good condition and don't need them, PM me to discuss a purchase/trade. And Thanks!! :thumbsup:

Figured I'd wander back in and give a bit of an update.
I sold the V4b and both 410 cabs (sad day, good bye glorious sound) and downsized to the BA-115V2.

It fits real well in the limited space I have.
But it actually works and sounds pretty acceptable for a combo amp.
It's definitely the best combo I've owned, and I was happy moving back to the 15" driver.

I run the Scrambler quite a bit actually. Both knobs straight up or pretty close seems to work real well for me anyway
