Hello,
I have a basic (stupid) questions
I play mainly in rehearsal places were bass amps are provided. I don't gig a lot nowadays.
But I'll have three gigs this summer.
I'm old, broken back and so on.
When I have to gig I use a little Rumble 200 V3 head (my PJB Cub 100 is wonderful at home but not really suitable for gigging my case) and despite its rather low power ratings it works quite well in 4 ohms
I'm looking for a light (read : very lightweight) 4x10 and have the opportunity to buy two 210AV for a very low price (the price of one new).
So my question : do two 210AV make a decent 410?

I'd say 'Yes' - although the 410-HLF is voiced way low, so they won't match that. If you're not specifically looking for the 410-HLF tone (or have no idea what that means), then I wouldn't worry about it.
Lots of folks here prefer 2x210AV over a 410. Easier to haul, can stack them vertically, etc.
What head are you looking to use?

I just went through this exercise and will share what I have learned, but am in no way an expert.
Two daisy chained SVT-210AV cabinets are adequate for up to 200W when using the SVT Micro VR head. The cabs are tuned to the following specs:
Freq Response 58Hz - 5KHz
Usable Low Freq 40Hz
Sensitivity 97.8
Max SPL. 121
HF horn. None
Ohms 8
Weight (each) 26 lb
The specs for various Ampeg 410s vary a great deal, but I am not sure how meaningful that is to the ear. The impact on harmonics/overtones would be a highly personal decision. If weight is a factor, all of the 410s I have data on start at 71 lbs.
The following pertains to the SVT-410HE
Freq Response 60Hz - 18KHz
Usable Low Freq 43Hz
Sensitivity 98
Max SPL. 122
HF horn. Yes
Ohms 8
Weight (each) 71 lb
While the freq response is wider, it may not discernable for your needs. All other data is very close. A side by side would tell the tale.

Looks like that's 200W @ 4 ohms?
IIRC, the 210AVs run 200W @ 8 ohms and so will get 100W @ 4 ohms.
Just an FYI, you could pick something up that runs 400W @ 4 ohms and then give each can 200W. It may or may not make a big difference...

Whoa....you dont see those cabs too often. Nice!
Basically there are two types of Ampeg 410's, sealed and ported, the ported go very low and do not sound like the sealed, they're great for blues or anything that you want a big fat sound for. Sealed cabs are more punchy-middy like SVT cabs (810's) The 210 cabs you're looking at should be fine and as I'm sure you probably know a cabs power rating has nothing to do with how many watts come out of it, the rating is only the maximum power you can safely put into it. If those cabs are rated at 200 watts you will be fine, they will each get only 100 watts when you use two with your head so you will be far under the maximum power they can take. That being said I've never tried them. Ampeg does make a light NEO 410 though, just search around at the online music stores. I would think that two of those 210's would sound very good though, and at 26 lbs (12 KG?) you're not going to find anything that sounds decent much lighter than those.

I wouldn't put an Ampeg close to the door, it could blow the door off.
Realistically speaking definitely not close to a window, it could crack it, and most surely keep it away from large screen TV's, the vibration could crack the screen or break the backlight tubes. LED TV's are much more robust but the screen is still as vulnerable.
One band I knew was practicing upstairs in a home, the vibration caused the ceiling plaster to fall off. All but the corners.
Realistically speaking definitely not close to a window, it could crack it, and most surely keep it away from large screen TV's, the vibration could crack the screen or break the backlight tubes. LED TV's are much more robust but the screen is still as vulnerable.
One band I knew was practicing upstairs in a home, the vibration caused the ceiling plaster to fall off. All but the corners.
So Dino and Hodgy are both headed to Yamaha HQ today. Makes me think we're close to the official Yamaha launch.
Picked this up the other day for pretty cheap. Back into the V4 club again, lol.
