The official gym & weightlifting thread! rep #3

Buzzbass takes in a ****-ton of protein.

Yes, I do. But where did that come from. As an update, while my lifting weights haven't retruned to pre-surgery levels, my muscle mas is coming back rapidly. Shirts that fit when I was in shape(pre-surgey), don't fit anymore. My bodyweight is up to 235 lbs & my bodyfat level remain @10-12%. It's good to be stretching out my shirt sleeves again. Train Hard, Die Strong. Words to live by.

Dayum I really need to start working on my legs. I'm ashamedly one of those guys who only do upper body/cardio so I have some chicken legs going on. I just recently (this morning) finally dipped my body weight +30 lbs for 10 reps. Never tried maxing out yet.

I've just recently(last 6 weeks) bgun to hit it hard again. It took just about a full year to come back from the shoulder/biceps repair surgery. I finally feel like I'm ready to start challenging myself again. I'll just be a bit more mindful of my body's "signals". I am back though. I'm gaining wait, muscle atrpohy on the bad side is improving, hell...I may even try and do a masters show next year.

The best part about this comeback is that I did all myself this time. No PT this time, none. I did my own programs of careful lifting, stretching & yoga. Now, if I can just keep it going in a positive direction, things will be bueno.

Nice! But is the 460 lbs (209 kg) from the weights alone or weights and bar together? I'm 5'10" and 157 lbs and so far I'm squatting (10 reps x 2 sets) with 2x45 lb disc and a 45 lb bar total 135 lbs. I can do 2 sets of 10 with 270 lbs on a leg press machine. I've only been training for a couple of months now.

that's good, Rome wasn't built in a day. Keep at it.

How's everyone doing? Had an account here a few years back, lost my info after not logging in for a long time, missed keeping up with some people.

Over the last year or so I've really put an emphasis on Olympic lifts, since it translates to athletics better (especially as a thrower for track and field). I'm actually in school for Strength and Conditioning and have taken USAW courses for certification in coaching Olympic Lifts.

Most recent PRs are 335 for clean and jerk; had a solid base from high school and after the course training and research its shot up in terms of efficiency.

Snatch PR is still lower than desired; only 235. Hip flexibility is limiting my ability to drop under heavier weights, forcing me to need to get the weights higher to count the lift.

Then the generics;
Back Squat: 480
Front Squat: 315
Bench Press: 345
Deadlift: I believe I got 515x3, so whatever that comes out too.

Currently sitting at 6'0", 240 lbs with a higher body fat than what I should have.

Solid lifts!

I have also been focusing on olympic lifts, and am up to 185 snatch and 225 C&J. Considering I only started doing those lifts in July - I'm proud of the progress so far. Dropping into the squat positions feel weird to me, so I've been using the split variants. Sure, everyone mentions how much more effective the squat variants are, but that's okay with me.

I got two new maxes on the squat yesterday: 470x1 and 405x7, belt only.

Went to the doc for a checkup last week. Seems I'm up 12lbs in bodyweight since march, and my waist is an inch smaller. All the blood work numbers looked good. Maybe I'm poised for a big comeback. I'm toying with the idea of entering the New Jersey State bodybuilding championships in august 2015, as a masters competitor. I'm currently 5'-8", bodyweight of 238 lbs. Bodyfat is right around 15%.
