Just picked this up last week--Hondo Deluxe Series 880.

Loving it so far!

Most likely a Metric screw. Is the screw stripped or is the saddle stripped? You can buy an inexpensive tap and die set at Harbor Freight that will have taps and dies that will enable you to fix the problem. They usually include pitch gauges that will help you determine what taps and dies to use. Usually when one piece is damaged like the screw the other piece is damaged also. You can usually clean up a damaged hole in a saddle with a tap but the screw may be a little loose when you re-insert it and it may need a little clear nail polish to hold it in place.

You can get by with just a pitch gauge then. If the head is stripped someone probably tried to use a SAE hex wrench. Spray a little PB Blaster in the hole to loosen things up and try to find a hex wrench that will fit the hole tight enough to allow you to turn the screw.

It was up for 7 days, 3 times that i had seen so i shot an offer. Twice what a single neck sells for, but not anywhere near 1400. I sent a "I will pay cash" offer and he told me that i insulted him. Well why do you ask for best offer and expect people to put offers up? Just say no. Doesn't need to be any more difficult.

This Hondo, with the tobacco foto flame image caught my eye,so I bought it not knowing it was a Hondo? It was advertised,as a Partscaster Precision? I found out later that the original neck, had a broken truss rod,and the owner replaced the neck with a Mighty Mite, and put the brass grover tuners,on the Mighty Mite neck. So any Hondo owners, tell me anything thing about them. It sounds and plays great just real heavy. The pots, and jack, needed replaced which I have since I got it. Also read where some of the bodies were plywood? I noticed the top edges where the paint is darker, you can see like layers, laminated in the body? Any comments, would be appreciated.

May or may not be ply, you can tell by looking in the control cavity.
There are a few Hondo's here and a couple of them with ply bodies, although heavy, sound great with factory Dimarzios and the 2 ton bridges.

PS: Epi's Accubass series used the same bridges, have very similar/identical necks(except the headstock), and sound as good....you can find them for low cost if you want a similar bass.

Thanks,Johnny Crab,I replaced the wiring harness, new pots, and jack, noticed it had the copper shielding in the control cavity. Didn't want to mess up a good job, someone had done before I got it?
