I've since installed a short scale TI flat set and they don't feel all that different, they just look neater on the tuners.
They do offer medium scale 4 set, you could buy those and a single C, the tension difference on a C string between 34" and 32" would be negligible...

Hi, I have the Maruszczyk nickels, too.

I am feeling the same, super bright, but I only got the bass today. And I spent the last 10 years playing flats. I only returned to the rounds with the Serek, with the DR HI Beams that came stock. And I haven't changed them yet.

I've been a dead-rounds player for years, and have been using Dunlop flats on my mustang since January so I'm in the same boat. Either the strings are settling in or my ears are.

No problem. I hope that wasn't a feature you were counting on having. You could always add it later on with a stacked knob.

I've got a Delano Sonar 2 on mine, I feel like that when in passive, the sound doesn't change if the treble knob is to the max or on the middle notch. It only becomes duller when turned down. Like, middle and max sound the same to me. Is that what you're experiencing?

I've never used that preamp, but I've played some Ibanez models that have the same setup with the treble control becoming passive tone, and they work the same way, the detent is flat, and you can roll off from there.

Regarding maruszczyk string- they are not in any way bad, but they seemed not well balanced compared to what I'm looking for.
I usually use strings that are a bit more expensive and didn't really like them ( compared to DR neon / D'addario nyxl / thomastik or labellas )

Edit : to be a bit more specific, the E string slap was insanely noisy compared to the other 4 strings ( A D G C )

I orderd a passive tone on the Noll's treble knob, but I feel the high cut is slight than passive basses.

P.S. Sorry. I didn't realize it was already resolved.

In my case Marusczcyck strings are the better option for my Elwood L$ the strings more open and airy between the sets I've used. Wonderful tone, not too hard at all not to floppy.

I thought I liked the flats that came on my Jake, but after a time the G string developed a very nasty dead spot. I've never had flats do anything but get better and better over time. I was worried that a problem was developing in the neck, but when I changed out the strings to GHS Pressurewounds everything was fine again. Those string nicely opened up that bass as well and made me a convert.

I got to say, my Elwood is probably the best bass I've owned so far. An absolute pleasure to play and to look at. Finish is near perfect (the edge of the last fret - near the body - is a bit sharp, otherwise everything is great). It sits in the mix really well. It plays like a charm (minus the body contour where the forearm meets the body, I wish it was more angled, it's not always comfy to play with a pick but I'm getting used to it).

Yeah, so far I'm really impressed with mine too. I've owned the USA Fenders, EBMM, G&L, Kiesel, and they've all been great. This one really feels like a leap higher. I wasn't sure about the Delano single coils too, there's hardly any info online about them. But I'm VERY impressed with their sound, I was all prepared to just get some Nordstrands eventually but I don't know now.

This one is on it's way, the next few months will be an exercise in patience...
