Except for a (very decent) gig bag, my basses came with nothing.... no mug, no shirt, no fancy certificate.But that was in 2014 and 2016.
I received no certificate that I recall. A shirt, yes.

That flamed, roasted fretboard looks incredible. Gorgeous bass!
I was torn between going flame or just having the regular maple with block inlays, and after this couch shot I think I made the right choice!
Your chances of getting one are far greater if you ask than if you don't ask.
I finally checked with Adrian about the semi-hollowbody-options.
It's possible for elwoods (since they can be chambered), but frogs just don't have the room to spare. So unfortunately a hollowbody Frog is no option.
So they big question now is, do I try something new and spec out a Cazpar / Joker, of shall I stick to my theme and go for Frog #4
?Saw one of these up close the other week so checked it out.
Not set up for me so cut some slack there as it wasnt my thing re playability.
The build was good, substantial and solid which may translate into on the heavy side if that matters.
Decent hardware and I suspect an older build.
There were two others too but only gave them a quick look and didnt play them.
I got the impression that they will build you anything, which is kind of good but means trying to gauge what you'll end up with by online research and could be a pain and maybe a risk.
I got the impression that the prices are going up which brings a lot of competition into play.
My thoughts were that they were probably alongside Metrolines but for that money you get custom made in Eastern Europe?
I went for a different custom build maker but that decision was prior to me seeing these in the flesh

I have one Maruszczyk, and have owned a couple Kiesels and many other basses in the 500-1500 usd range. I’ve played many more expensive ones as well.
The Kiesels I had were both in the low end of their price range, and I thought they were very good instruments that were a good value when optioned out that way. I got the impression that once you add more than 300-400 dollars in options, there were better instruments in terms of sound quality. The maruszczyk I have feels like a whole other tier up. It’s a pretty basic build, but i would have no problem paying for something fully tricked out and feeling like I’m getting my money’s worth. Of course everyone has their priorities, but if you prefer solid finishes and standard shapes (like I do), I really think Maruszczyk compares favorably with instruments in higher brackets (even if they do have a price increase).
Again, just my experience so far.

To build off of @PotsdamBass8 response I've owned lots of basses and my Elwood is up there with the best of them. Fit and finish is excellent, I'd have to be real picky with it to talk about its flaws. I've owned 2 Kiesels and still own a Carvin and I'd put them equal in build quality. Biggest difference is customization. I don't love the Kiesel pickups and preamps. You have to pay them a CNC programming fee to have them route for something else and send them the pickups, the price gets out of hand at that point.
I have some Sadowsky's and I'd say those are a step or 2 about my Maruszczyk. If I could get a Sadowsky with the custom specs of my Maruszczyk I wouldn't buy another bass again in all honesty.
With Maruszczyk or Mensinger you have to know what you want and how the customizations are tailored to your needs. To me that's the best part about them as they're the only builder that I've come across that's reasonably priced with tons of options on hand without having to send parts or pay special pricing for something specific I want. The only thing I'd change on my Elwood is the bridge. Their monorail system without the intonation set screw and spring is absolutely annoying. I have an Overwater from the UK that uses the same type of saddle but that bass didn't fight me on intonation as much as this Elwood does. After last night's practice I have to adjust the intonation again for some odd reason.
I am so ridiculously pleased with the roast and the color on this neck. Yours is incredible though, gosh dang.
I suspected the monorail system didn't have adjustment screws when I was looking at them, which is the reason I went with the Hipshot. I really like the look of the ETS bridge, but I'll probably avoid it for the same reason.
I think you will not go wrong with Hipshot hardware
The quick load string slots on a bridge are a must have for me.
I hate threading strings personally, especially used strings.
Most makers offer a decent range of pickup and pre amp choices too and I'm going for Nordstrand and Mike Pope in my build.

My bass is done, my couch shot is posted farther up the thread. Now I get to eagerly await tracking and delivery. I hope it comes before my next gig in October!
Congrats. Your couch pic is seriously one of the most beautiful jazz basses I've ever seen. Those colors went really well with the roasted
neck.
