The Official MARUSZCZYK CLUB!

"Off-menu" options I would like to have, if possible, would be 28 frets, and a Hipshot A-Style bridge with through-body stringing.
For anyone interested, I decided to contact Adrian to see if these options were possible, and he said that both could be done. He also sent along this picture of an 8 string, 30 fret Sputnik.

While I have one Maruszczyk and another in the works, I have a question to those who may have some experience/feedback with this:

Has anyone in here ordered a fretless bass with Haeussel pickups? I am considering a 5-string fretless with these pickups, but I would be curious what they sound like (I would be going with a JJ configuration).

Bubinga and Wenge, one of my favorite comninations
I have that precise combination -- bubinga neck & wenge fretboard -- on my three pickup jazz. That neck is one of the reasons that bass has lasted so long as my main player despite being a heavy pig at 10.5 pounds. (The other reason is the tonal quality & variety that bass is capable of.)

My Maruszczyk Frog weighs in at 8.5 pounds, and sounds every bit as good. It has a katalox fretboard I'm still getting used to, but I see no reason now why I'm not going to love it.

Bubinga and Wenge, one of my favorite comninations
I guessed the wenge, but wasn't sure on the top. My Ibanez SRFF4505 has two bubinga stringers for a 5 piece laminate with 3xWenge. The fretboard is one of the nicest pieces of Wenge, with figured dark and light layers. The body is a mahogany 2 piece--after playing many other basses since, its still a tonewood combination with no parallel (mahogany, wenge, bubinga)--plenty bright sounding but more sweet in the mids and highs than honky or snarly.

So after more than a month after it was shipped, I still haven't received my Jazzus.

After frequent communication with Adrian & FedEx, Adrian has been chasing FedEx and told me that they have lost 4 basses since April. Apparently he used to have a contact at FedEx who handled everything and never had any problems. However, he said that he now gets a different person every time he tries to contact FedEx and communicating with someone who can actually do anything is impossible. He and I are going to expose the situation as there are obviously thieves working at FedEx and nothing is being done about it. Adrian is now exclusively using DHL

It now means that my Jazzus needs to be made again from scratch which is extremely disappointing - I just hope that I get it before Christmas

A recent trans Atlantic shipment took 10 weeks, if that is any consolation.

Once it gets in the tracking system, it seems that to steal it, would be quite risky. Not impossible, of course, but the shipper will have accepted responsibility.

Mine wasn't ever in the system as far as I could see and it still arrived. I'd written it off, tbh.

Thanks,

Unfortunately, the tracking has been showing since it shipped and it has showed no movement since it arrived at the FedEx hub in Köln Germany.

FedEx told me that they would refer the situation to their investigation team who would get back to me - that was 3 weeks ago and I've heard nothing.

Adrian said that he has constantly been chasing FedEx with no response and my bass was shipped 6 weeks ago.

FedEx customer service and follow up process is abysmal

I would add, that I'd making a right nuisance in chasing for updates. 3 weeks with no update is ridiculous. 2 days is too long once it has been raised as an 'issue'
I have constantly pestered FedEx and Adrian has sent dozens of emails.

Unfortunately, the emails only reach the initial customer service team, who are very apologetic and they then forward them to people higher up. I have now said that I will expose the situation and the possible theft within the FedEx organisation on Trustpilot and Reddit, so hopefully that will bring forth a response.

Adrian said that he wrote a final letter to FedEx head office in Germany and someone eager to resolve the situation took on the case last Wednesday.

Apparently 6 basses have gone missing since May and by Friday the guy at FedEx had located one package and accepted that 3 of them are missing. The other 2 were shipped to UK, which includes mine and are yet to be accounted for.

Adrian has said that he will make another one as he doesn't want to wait for FedEx any longer.

Agree that customer service is likely useless in that you never speak to the same person, by mail or online contact. Phone is useless but if they publish a number I'd use it in your own country if possible.
Trying to get someone to own the problem would be comforting but a new person just gives a bot reply with no reference to the previous line of comms or questions or statements.

Definitely needs escalating which no doubt is being done from the outside by yourselves.

I also assume compensation is available as an insured package.

I reckon it will show up as they must know where it is...
One word of caution though...my bass appeared in the tracker system for 2 days and when it hadnt moved, the company admitted it was never physically scanned into the system. This means there are paperwork scans..as in booked and expected in the system, and an actual physical scan in of the package.
The shipper should be able to confirm that...and if it has travelled from Poland to London, you'd think it is actually in London...
Mine never got out of a local Texas depot that picked it up...but we did have proof the driver collected it and we also knew it he dropped it off at the local depot for transit.
