In my opinion Marusczcyk are just as good as Fodera/Ken smith/Sadowsky/MTD and you have the same options that you can choose from if not more. Woods are top notch and I was literally able to order 4 Maru custom builds this year for the price of one Fodera :hyper:

Agree with you. I recently sold off an instrument (that would have bought 2-3 Maruszczyk's) when comparing them side by side (to make the decision to sell) the build quality was discernible, the necks were almost identical (maple/maple zero fret with smaller frets, etc) tone comparable, and playability was also almost identical… my Frog is headless, another reason I chose to keep it vs the other.

I have nothing against the other high end builders and like many of them, but the high quality of the Maruszczyk's for the cost/value is really hard to beat/compare IMHO.

Yes and no. The other builders you mention have perfected a certain specific style of bass. If I wanted what Fodera or Sadowsky have to offer, I wouldn't order a Maruszczyk instead. But my headless Frog is one of kind and it's a no-compromise lead player on my rack, sitting now right next to my Super-J. It won't be losing that spot anytime soon.

Funny, very similar for me. I have lots of really nice options, but my goto for most situations is my Frog 5 headless.

My Warwick's, Status and others look great on the racks most of the time. I just picked up a fretless 5 with Piezo (inexpensive brand) that I've been playing and my band has been loving it, so I'm now looking at maybe a new headless Paddock or Frog 5 fretless to round out my options. :)

My Frog has a Ziricote top and a Macassar Ebony fretboard. Someone listening to it once thought it was a fretless--that's about as close as I get.

I'm on the fence about fingerboard selection, Macassar Ebony is one of my considerations… so that's good news about the sound since I'm looking at fretless :)

Can you please post a picture of the Frog?

Little doubt. The video came as a surprise not long ago when I happened upon it, but that's my spec, down to the acryl ovals and the maple-wenge-padouk neck through--of course the top is a fingerprint. That's it! I think he likes it! It's not the best bass for metal. She has a little butt dive too, but the tone is just as you hear, complex and crystal clear.

Really interested to get a Sputnik 6a 26..

Not a fans of the local dealer in my area..
May be I should email Adrian directly to discuss my dream spec..

Looks like they have NT version of it but can't find this option in the generator, also there are a lot tiny details option on different bass..

I wonder if he can do 3 pickups, removable 22- like Mike popes signature fodera..7*7 wood sandwich like my ken smith..

I am super excited..to get my own build.
Any suggestion?

On my last build, Adrian was trying to decide between DHL and FEDEX. He had a couple of missing basses with FEDEX. He told me that they claimed the shipping label came off. On the other hand, DHL takes quite a bit longer for delivery in the US. He decided to go with FEDEX and TRIPLE taped the shipping label onto the box. I got it in my hands within 1 week. At this point in time, there is no great choice with ANY delivery service. UPS, FEDEX, USPS all have had bad experiences as posted on TB.

Mine was due to be delivered with APC here in the UK, they've had it a month now with no word on where it could be, and my dealer has said it's happened before and it's been months before the parcel is found (why they're still using them, I have no idea).

At this point, DPD are the only couriers I haven't had issues with, and I know other people who have had problems with them elsewhere in the country. It really feels like a lottery if you'll get your parcel in one piece these days.

I prefer to deal with Adrian directly. It's not the cheapest approach. . .send him a few short questions at a time, and have some patience. It's worth it in the end, at least for me.

My suggestion is: Decide what you want before contacting Adrien. I get the sense that he is a good person for telling you what is possible and what is not possible, but not as good at bouncing ideas and making suggestions.

Of the three, I trust UPS the most.

Triple-taping the shipping label was a good idea. I think even making a photocopy of the shipping label and taping it to the side of the box might not be a bad idea. (Or if not the entire shipping label, at least the destination address.)

On my last build, not the current one in production, I went directly with Adrian. He is great...but I can totally understand that he is receiving a TON of email from all over the world. I can only imagine that he has VERY limited amount of time to answer each email and that can come off as being "short" or "rude". In addition, he is overseeing the luthiers, taking care of business orders and payments, shipping, recording demos and performing.
I chose to go through a dealer on my current build (Joker B 5 string hollowbody). The dealer I am using (Bass Spotlight, Randy Riley, has ordered so many of these and he is a bass player....so he can answer many of the questions and give good advice on what works and what is not possible. Also saved me a good amount of money!!
