Wow! Never thought I'd want a "headless frog", but now...

Hmm, I believe I've interrogated you about that bass before, but I just noticed something else that I'm curious about!
Are those sealed Delanos a pair of the HE/M2 narrow humbuckers rather than single coils? If that's the case, how are you finding them in comparison to the singles? Is it just like having a normal dual single coil setup with additional options on top, or is it a different beast entirely?
Indeed, these are JC4HE pickups, not single coils (link to the specs of the Frog at the bottom of my post).
I have the 5-string version in my Elwood L and in that bass they clearly have the jazz bass vibe. They sound very "full" and "round" with a little more low and top end. They may be slightly less "airy" and "dynamic" than single coils, if that makes any sense. Difficult to describe sound in words...
With that said, the Frog sounds completely different. Apart from it having no head, the neck pickup is closer to the bridge than in a jazz bass. So with both pickups on, there is hardly any similarity to a jazz bass. No "Marcus" vibe to be found and also hard to get "Jaco" from the bridge pickup. To my ears, the bass has a modern sound, one could sometimes even think it is active. And I hear a distant G&L call too. Like it very much!

Ah thanks for the thorough response! I've been having some trouble locating specific third-party info on the sealed Delano humbuckers, so that's really helpful. I'm not looking for a radically different sound on my potential JJ or PJ fretless, but I use nylon tapewound strings, so additional hum cancellation on the J-sized pickups seems like a good idea.

Now I'm getting confused....
First we have @ZuluFunk, who I thought was happy with his Jazzus, suddenly saying that he'll never buy another Maruszczyk for whatever reason....
Now we have you saying that you're saving for a Maruszczyk Jazzus Absolution....
Didn't know that Maruszczyk made an Absolution version of the Jazzus!.....
Wondering if I died in my sleep and nobody has told me that I'm dead yet!
