I don't know if they accept requests for lightweight specifically, but there are a few things you can do to reduce weight. Order a hollowbody or semi-hollow bass, order a lighter body wood, and/or order a model with a small body. I ordered a Cazpar with an alder body, and it's really light - about 7.5 lbs.

The neck width varies due to string spacing and other factors. I had a Frog headless that was spec'd with 19mm spacing (adjustable down to 18mm) and the fingerboard was a bit wider to accommodate, however still nice and thin front to back). With all things you require as your spec, you can request neck mods, body mods, suggested weight goals, etc. You can ask Adrian directly or if working with a dealer, tell them the specs you require and they can negotiate on your behalf.

Has anyone had to lower their action after their bass arrived ? ?
Or has anyone asked Adrian for a particularly low action to begin with as part of the ordering process ? ?

I received my bass a couple of months ago. Definitely low. I had to raise it.

Mine was medium-low, I would say. I did not change it out of the box, but I think having to do a setup is an expected part of getting a new bass.

Mine came with about the lowest action I've ever had on a bass, and when my tech gave it the customary once over at my first service, he got it even lower. It practically plays itself.

Medium low, I definitely did a set up and lowered it, and then tweaked as it acclimated to my environment (all Maple necks).

Additionally, IME I have found that with a Maple neck whether it's rock, quarter sawn or roasted they require adjustments after the fact too. But I prefer really low buzz free action, so I just know adjustments (sometimes just minor saddle height) are part of the territory.

I attended one of the clinics at Bass Player Live event many years ago. The clinic was with Roger Sadowsky and Michael Tobias about to how to setup your bass. Basically what they said is, that we players need to learn to setup our instruments according to our hands, style of playing etc. For me in particular the medium high action works better. One of the best informative and educational video is from Jason of Fodera Basses. Basically learn your measurements and then you can duplicate it in all your instruments. Just Remember that the trust rod on Adrian's Basses works on the contrary. Counter clockwise straight the neck, clockwise gives relief to the neck.

Regarding the weight, I don't think there's any reliable way to specifically predict what the weight of a bass is going to be, but you can let them know up front that a light weight bass is a priority for you. Mine came in at 8.5 pounds.

Regarding the neck, we may be kindred spirits. I ordered mine with a 40mm nut and 18mm spacing at the bridge. I was specifically trying to replicate the neck on a Rickenbacker 4001 that was stolen from me decades ago. I don't know how close I got to that Rickenbacker, but I absolutely love the result. There isn't much taper to it -- my guitar player, when he felt that neck, was kinda amazed at how it didn't feel like it got bigger as he moved his hand toward the body. Definitely NOT a 19mm blank.

One other thing I did -- I asked for my neck to be slender. What they did in response to that request is slim down the neck such, whereas the neck is normally 21mm front to back around the 1st fret, mine is 20mm.

A question for Maruszczyk owners. Does anyone know if the JSBC 5HE is the JSBC 5TF Times Square with a different cover? I am spec'ing out a Jazzus and I like a clean and bright modern tone. Also, I have listened to a lot of You Tube but real life I think is a lot more accurate. Are the Hauessel JazzBuckers worthy of consideration? Please forgive my wordiness, inquiring minds and all that.

The Delano SBC Times Square have exposed magnets and is the Blade shape. Probably the ones that you saw are Delano SBC5 HE/S4 Driver.
