Couple of Q's for all you M owners / players:
The configurator etc is really cool. But, how do you know what is going to happen with the weight of the instrument? There isn't anything in there for weight options. I def do not want a boat anchor bass. How does that work?
Also, I definitely prefer 18mm bridge spacing; but, I do not want an 18mm bridge just slapped on a 19mm tapered neck. Cause the bridge spacing itself isn't my issue. I mainly don't like the aircraft carrier 19mm neck tapers. Fender's 18mm neck taper is just fine. Do they have the necks properly tapered for 18mm or are they just using 19mm blanks?
Many thanks for any information! The luthiery is mighty impressive.
I don't know if they accept requests for lightweight specifically, but there are a few things you can do to reduce weight. Order a hollowbody or semi-hollow bass, order a lighter body wood, and/or order a model with a small body. I ordered a Cazpar with an alder body, and it's really light - about 7.5 lbs.
