You can try Maruszczyk basses at certain shops, if you want a custom made Fender then you are in the same position as ordering a custom made Maruszczyk except it will cost a lot more with no difference in quality. Fender was my go to bass provider but no longer, nothing wrong with them but I prefer Maruszczyk's they are fantastic value for money, and excellent quality.
I would say that the advantage Fender has is that they have basses in stock at most music stores, so that a prospective buyer can try one out in person. But that advantage is limited to the stock on hand. If someone is looking for something specific, that person might be stuck having to order it.
I had to order and buy a US Fender Deluxe as it wasn't in stock at the any local stores. It was a nice bass when it arrived.
Another difficult choices I’ll weigh in, yes there’s a difference, IMHO you’ll get much better quality and your own custom specs from “your home country”So there's no difference then? Sounds good to me. Thanks. I need to buy 5 string and I consider American Ultra Jazz 5 as Jazz Bass 5 string basses are probably the most popular and versatile 5s. But when I saw those Maruszczyk basses I think that I'll go with "custom shop" path. Now it's time to choose wood, hardware, electronics, pickups and so on

I'm not kind of "brand" guy and don't have favourite brands of gear. So if it will be a Fender, Gibson, Maruszczyk or "John Doe super duper custom ultra thing" it doesn't matter 
What is important to me are build quality, sound quality and overall "my taste" in it (maybe ex. Ritter or Warwick basses are amazing but they're definitely not my style - I like classic, simple and useful designs). Same with sound. I'm not a "that sound" guy too. I like versatility and provide sound which is usable in the particular genre or song. Sound guys should love me too And build quality is important especially in today where most factory basses are not so good and often you must change electronics, hardware or you'll need a help of the luthier sooner or later.
Normally not a big tort fan, but the effect it has on your bass is very pleasing to my eye.
