The Official MARUSZCZYK CLUB!

This is a very good bass. I'm learning more and more about its particulars. I've never had a humbucker let alone the ability to go single coil/series/parallel.

The passive/active option also adds a huge amount of variability.

Neck feels nice.

Components are high quality (although I had to tighten the tone pot...by doing this, I scuffed a little below the knob)

But this bass is just super sexy.

A Question!

I have an Elwood ordered with Adrian. It's been about 1.5 months since his receipt of my deposit and the start of work on the bass. I've sent Adrian a couple of eMails to check-in in the last couple of weeks but haven't had a response. What are your experiences with communication with Adrian?!

Thank you!

Mine have prevented me from ordering. I sent an email asking about a Hellwood, and got no response. I mentioned that earlier in the thread and someone idicated sending messages via Facebook has better results. Give that a shot.

In my recent experience, Adrian doesn't respond to "where's my bass" questions at all unless he's running over the time to build that he originally specified....Mine was a little late and he then gave an answer to my query...

His usual thing is to send a pic of the bass to you when it's finished and ready to ship....

Don't panic.....You'll get your bass when it's ready.....:)

Not at all.....My advice would be to mail Adrian keeping the request as simple as possible (His English isn't that great)...

He'll get back to you if he feels that there's something that isn't clear with the order.

If it's a custom order, be patient....He'll deliver....No probs....

+1

I've had some extensive emails with him, but sticking to the point. He will offer advice if asked but don't expect a detailed discussion of pros and cons. I find that if you approach him when you know *exactly* what you want, things are very easy. Of course, you may still change a couple of things and he may offer some ideas you didn't think of... but if you send a clar list of specs, concise but comprehensive, he tends to respond fast. I have two custom Jakes and a spare pickguard and I am very happy with the service and the results.

My first Jake is a simple P/JJ natural/maple, with everything pretty much stock, but I specified the neck dimensions and asked for it to be lacquered. I loved it so much that I order another Jake where I specified pretty much everything, including a logo, pickup type, orientation and position, bridge spacing... and it came out just as I asked, for less than the price of a MIA Fender (well, at least here in the UK :))

If the bass has already been ordered and they have all the details... just relax and forget about it. You will receive one email with the 'sofa shot' and requesting the remainder of the cash... and you'll be mere days away from holding that beauty in your hands.

Here is my amazing Maruszczyk Elwood Absolution 5 string. What an incredible instrument! Not only is it stunning to look at but it plays and sounds fantastic. It's my understanding that Adrian (Maruszczyk) is looking to start selling these basses here in the states. I expect they will be quite well received!

Recent Maruszczyk owner here, less than a week with my Jake 5a+. SUPERB instrument. Told my story (including a coil tap mod) in the wrong thread last week, sorry :-( Gigged it last friday and I must say everything was quite right. Due to me being more used to less hi-fi basses (or more middy in a way -Stingrays-) I had to EQ some boost around 650hz and also put a peak around 100hz. All this to bring it "home" in terms of presence, punch and cut in the mix. Playability is a dream.

This is great, thanks for the info in both posts...
I have a question...do you find a significant volume difference between single coil and series with the Delano pickup? Could you do a crappy sound sample with the comparisons between both coils and series?
