All I have is a camera phone.......don't know if it would do the bass justice.........BTW definitley not the same bass from the pic....checked the serial number.............not that it's a HUGE deal, but it makes me wonder a bit about the overall honesty of those cats........I know I specifically asked if that was the exact bass........the customer service was already borderline (though Beaver was pretty great ) so the whole misleading thing is a bit disturbing.........stil,, a great bass that's even newer than the one in the pic...According to the date, one of the first ones completed this year...........

Yeah, they're not bad guys, but they aren't great at keeping the website up to date. :hmm:

No, don't bother with the camera phone, but please please please get a friend with any kind of decent digital camera and post! :)

Hmmm...that doesn't sound very cool. I'm glad you like the bass you have, but if you asked for the bass you saw in the picture, they should have given you that one, or informed you that one was already sold but they have a very similar one.

on a seperate note, a thread popped up about norm stockton's ramps that he's got on his basses...i asked for one and was told that it would be cool getting one...but then i find out today that norm's ramps are built by john dimaggio, formerly of bass alone, and he isn't doing that work for bass alone anymore...hmmm...i guess mike doesn't build them...i wonder who's doing mine...

were any of you guys as in the dark about your mtd builds as i am with mine?? i don't get it...

True, but it's only a problem if he doesn't like the one actually shipped better, which he says he does. Otherwise, you're right, he could justifiably demand a full refund including all shipping charges. Thankfully, he doesn't appear to have to go down that road.

Bottom line is, BC SUX at keeping their website up to date. Word to the wise.

Thankfully, I do love this bass just fine...........I still feel either mislead or just flat out lied to......One guy said that the bass he was selling me had never been played outside of Mike's shop....the only time it was supposedly taken out of its case was for the picture and he said he was certain while on an old post on part 2 of this thread a fellow TB'er said that he played that exact bass........either way, what he said wasn't all the way true because my bass is not the bass from the picture...........doesn't really matter to me now..........it's a great bass but I might look elsewhere on my next purchase to increase the chances of getting straight answers.........

TRUTH. I remember calling about a bass on their site a while back and they said that it had been gone for quite some time... and even months after that call it was still on their site!

That's kinda sad, because I'm pretty sure that a major chunk of their business comes from internet sales. You'd think they'd make more of an effort to keep it updated.

Their web updating is really horrible, just like Vic said. The other thing I'm not too keen on is that they don't spend as much quality time with an instrument as others in smaller shops to be able to tell you what they sound like. It's like you're really just buying the picture. I agree that overall they're great guys but they can be a little misleading and are definitely salesmen.

Besides that, I think you got a great bass and I have been dying to see more pics of MTD's with Claro Walnut tops after seeing that one on the Austin Bass Traders website.

Don't feel too bad..apparently the one in the pics has been long gone.......I ended up with something similar.....It was a real toss up between that bass and the one with the Myrtle Burl top......It's also a beauty...........If you're still looking, I'd hop on it if I were you unless you specifically wanted walnut...........doesn't matter......MOST LIKELY WON"T BE THE SAME BASS FROM THE PICTURE ANYWAY!!!!!!!!..........

i said if that bass was gone when i was ready to buy i would get a 635. which i was trying to decide between the to so guess what yap 635.

Wow Ace, so you bought thinking you were going to get the MTD pictured in post #3, but you got the Claro Walnut top MTD instead? :eek:

I actually prefer the way the MTD you got looks, over the Crotch walnut MTD they showed on their site. By the way, is that normal maple or bird's eye maple? Hahah and I'm still hoping someone lets go of their Ash/Walnut top Ash/Maple board MTD this year :). [I'm not suggesting YOU do that by any means :hiding:, but just really want one since so many people say good things about the combo, but I certainly don't have the means to getting one new :rolleyes:]
